I'll help you discover the core reason(s) for why you're struggling and help develop strategies that work to change your way of thinking and behaviors so you can have longer sobriety, reduce relapses and have healthier relationships. We'll work to develop tailored relapse prevention/intervention skills for addiction, coping skills for managing mental health symptoms, and conflict resolution skills for your relationships.

I help my clients by helping them to understand themselves better. In the process, they are able to find ways to be happier, more effective, and better able to solve their problems. I am comfortable with a number of approaches to therapy. Regardless of the specific approach, I help by providing keys to self-knowledge, warmth, respect, and honesty. I'm able to listen to things that are hard to talk about, tell you things that are hard to hear, and build hope in the process.

Kim is trained in Adaptive Internal Relational Network Therapy (AIR) and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). Kim utilizes a strengths-based approach, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused methods with a heavy emphasis on Adlerian Therapy. She is passionate about nurturing others’ ability to grow through their trauma and become their best selves. Kim has previously worked with teens, children and families in schools and has also worked for the State of Minnesota with both the Department of Corrections and the Department of Health Services.

I am a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Professional Counselor with 37 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. My training and practice developmental path as a Clinical Psychologist has evolved in some very distinct and unique directions over the course of my career, much like the many unique developmental paths – sometime divergent, sometimes related, always connected - of the individuals I have had the privilege to serve. My name is Sonja Walker. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been working within clinical practice for over 12 years.
