I know from my healing journey that seeking help brings discomfort and many other beliefs to the surface.
Change does not need to take a decade to occur. My goal is to assist people in activating their inner healers through the therapeutic relationship. I enjoy working with people who are ready to work. Together we will grow the parts of you that require care. My style is active, empathic, playful, direct, genuine, and adaptive to meet your needs. I work relationally and I want my clients to know that another hu man being is in the room. As your therapist, you will be supported free of judgment, and challenged. I believe the authenticity we both bring to our relationship is the catalyst to get you where you want to be.

I have a special affinity to working with males of all ages, especially those who seek personal mastery in terms of presence, life balance, attunement and stalking those self defeating aspects that hinder or obstruct full expression.
"Over the past 20 years I have supported clients in overcoming challenges and empowering their authentic selves. Through counseling, coaching, and group work, I've helped them activate their inner resources and realize their inherent potential. I believe growth is served by identifying and integrating core material which obstructs access to essence, passion, and life purpose. Enhancing self-awareness, employing mindfulness and nonviolence, I help clients listen to their Body's Intelligence ©, connect to inner wisdom, and take courageous action.

I am the founder and executive director of Lucid Therapeutics. I am a board-certified emergency medicine physician with 15 years of experience and a fellowship in wilderness medicine. I became dissatisfied with western medicine, realizing that many elements of primary health, particularly mental health, were being mis managed in the existing system. I completed training for Ketamine Therapy at the Psychedelic Coalition for Health and the MDMA Therapy Training Program through the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). We help our clients find meaningful alignment with psychedelic psychotherapy.

Is your relationship stuck in conflict, or feeling hopeless? You might find yourselves trapped in repeating patterns. You know communication should be improved somehow. Maybe you don’t spend enough time together. You could be avoiding each other because of past hurts you'd rather not bring up, or personal differences you've been struggling to address. You're likely not feeling as supported you could be. If any of this resonates with you, I'm a trained couples therapist here to help.

I have particular expertise with Men's Issues.
I believe seeking therapy is a sign of strength. Our deepest self wants to be known and find a way through life's challenges. Our deepest self wants to connect and create and build a sense of well-being. Whether you are feeling "off" internally (anxious or depressed), or need to discuss relationship problems, I provide a warm and thoughtful presence. I believe the best way to grow is to feel supported to engage with relational patterns, troubling and repetitive thoughts, and unfinished business from the past that is getting in the way of building your future. I will engage with you to help you move forward in your life.

I treat people with acne, body dysmorphic disorder, eczema, hives, skin picking, psoriasis, rosacea, scratching and itching, trichotillo mania, vitiligo, and warts.
My goal as a therapist is to provide a comfortable setting that allows you to get the greatest benefit from our work together. In addition to traditional office sessions, I offer flexible solutions including phone, teletherapy, or home visits. Emotional issues can trigger or make a significant contribution to anxiety, skin conditions, skin picking issues and hair pulling (trichotillo mania) issues. Relaxation, visualizations, and a mixture of cognitive behavioral therapy and body-focused psychotherapy can make the difference. You can take more control by discovering how to manage your emotional triggers and by developing strategies to alleviate anxiety, skin issues, skin picking, and hair pulling.

Your relationship is really important, but, because of communication breakdowns and tension you have started to question whether staying is right. You want to get clarity on what is going on so that you find a way back to feeling trust, safety, empathy, and passion. You have the sense that you could work through it together if only there was the chance of really being heard and understood by your partner. Through therapy you gain clarity and insight on your own (and your partners) needs, boundaries, and values. Therapy is effective for couples, families, business partners, and teams.

Life coaching may be an unfamiliar experience for many individuals.
Remember that the change starts with you! Being aware of past issues may lead to unwanted emotions or behaviors that can affect your present life. Instead of letting these past issues affect your self-esteem, try to improve them and see them as "Hero" badges. By taking the time to explore these issues and seeking guidance, you can have more control over your emotions and behaviors. I'm here to support your mind, body, and spirit, so don't hesitate to reach out if you need help.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
