My specialty is helping others develop an optimistic state of mind. I have learned that every person is the right person to help when they are ready. You are far more powerful than you may think, and you can have a profound impact on your own happiness. Changing your thoughts and behaviors can be difficult. It takes time and practice, but it can be done. Our brain has a dramatic impact on how we think, feel, and behave from moment to moment. Everyone can experience negative thoughts and emotions sometimes, but it is how you accept, express, and cope with them that turns into your reality.

Whether your struggles stem from primary/early family dynamics, or more recent developments, together we can build a strong, healthy therapeutic alliance to identify and achieve your needs and goals. I work with individuals, couples, and families.

I specialize in helping Christian women integrate their faith into clinical practice and solutions. I am here to support and empower women who have lost their sense of self. There are many obstacles we encounter in life and sometimes it takes someone sitting with us and exploring what is making the mountain seem immovable. I specialize in helping set up goals and develop a path to achieve them. I enjoy working with married couples, to help them develop healthy ways to handle conflict, and also those trying to blend a family. I also do premarital counseling for engaged couples. I offer evening sessions as well.

Let’s face it. Life is hard right now and the past few years have been challenging for many. Do you find yourself worrying a lot about the economy, your bank account, job, health, or the world in general? Perhaps you’re grieving the loss of a person or pet, or are anxious, depressed or just feeling stressed to the max. Maybe you find yourself snapping at others or wanting to pull the covers over your head. Or maybe you’re dealing with chronic pain or another medical issue and lack the support of others because it’s “invisible” and they don’t understand. If any of the above sounds like you, I’d be happy to help.

Helping people explore and deepen their spirituality is something I enjoy.
My practice is usually FULL. If you have a direct referral from a colleague of mine, please email me with details. It is very difficult for me to return phone calls in a timely way, so if that is the only way for you to contact me, I will do my best! I have been practicing psychotherapy for 35 years and am as passionate about what I do as ever. Recently completed an Accredited Certificate Training Program to provide Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy (PAT.) For folks who are journeying, I offer preparation and integration services. Trained and currently able to legally provide Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.

I am a Massachusetts-Licensed Mental Health Counselor and I love my job. I began this journey in NYC, receiving my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Queens College. After moving to New Hampshire, I pursued my MEd from UNH and a second Masters’ (MS) in Addiction Counseling. I rounded off my studying with my CAGS from Rivier University in Nashua, NH. This allowed me to work in the education, and/or clinical fields, with the dual-diagnosed population, as well as teach Psychology at NCC.

Sometimes we are faced with what seem like impossible situations. Where there seems to be no way through. I hope to work with clients who may be facing their "Red Sea" and are looking to find a way through, whether that be with prayer, setting and working towards goals, or looking into specific areas of their lives- past or present- that are challenging them in their move forward in life, or a combination of approaches.

Spirituality Therapists

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
