As an Acute/Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, I was not cognizant of the impact of mental illness on family and society, until I decided to pursue a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Degree. I believe that societal stigmatization of mental illness, and the shame felt by families who have a loved one with mental illness, makes it difficult for these patients to recover, and live peacefully for the rest of their lives. Psychiatric illness should be treated like a medical illness with no stigma, no blame or shame.

I am a current provisionally licensed psychotherapist who has an interest in working with high performers/achievers, neurodivergent (esp. high masking), and LGBTQIA+ populations. I am a proudly LGBTQ+ Licensed Certified Social Worker who provides outpatient therapy to adults and couples struggling with depression and other mood disorders, anxiety, self-esteem, life transitions, traumatic histories, LGBTQIA+ issues, and interpersonal relationship problems. Lynn is an experienced physician assistant with a demonstrated history of working in both the hospital & outpatient health care industry. Skilled in psychopharmacology, addiction medicine, and customer service. She is a strong healthcare services professional with a master’s degree in physician assistant studies, who graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2015. As an appointed faculty member at MCPHS, Lynn has been a preceptor as well as a role model for practicing physician assistant students throughout their schooling careers. Lynn is a compassionate, knowledgeable and empathetic provider.

When working with children and adolescents, I take a collaborative approach to treatment, working with parents, schools, and others in the therapeutic process. My approach is ultimately strength-based where I seek to assist clients identify the skills and strengths they already have, and build upon these.

I was inspired to name my business SPEAK counseling services because I truly believe that untreated mental health and substance abuse dependence stems from our inability to understand how it is our mind, emotions, and body is trying to speak to us. Similar to when we stub our pinky toe and we get a shot of pain ; our body will send us symptoms of anxiety, depression, recurrent dreams etc in an effort to communicate pain/discomfort. Since mental/emotional pain is a foreign and misunderstood language we often lean on behaviors that sooth It quickly (e.g addiction) this increases anxiety/depression as the pain is never truly managed.

I exclusively devote my practice to the Deaf community, focusing on identifying and responding to the unique needs of Deaf, hard-of-hearing, deaf-blind, and late-deafened individuals; members of the cochlear implant community; and their families.
