I am a psychotherapist with nearly 20 years of experience. I work with couples, individuals, families and adolescents and treat a range of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma and relationship struggles. My main focus is to help you reach your own personal goals. My style is interactive, warm and direct. I believe the therapeutic relationship is paramount to successful treatment. I pride myself on creating a safe environment by being authentic, discerning, supportive and compassionate in a non-judgmental atmosphere.
We all have the power to heal from hard times - even from trauma - it’s within us, it’s human. Sometimes we need another person to support us in our journey to move on from hard times. Feelings of anxiety, depression, or personal trauma can happen, I believe growth and change are always possible outcomes. I provide a safe place, thoughtful attention, and gentle encouragement to support hope, healing, and most importantly, a relationship with yourself that is loving. My goal is to help you increase self-awareness, self-compassion, and self agency - skills that help you understand yourself and your unique value in the world.
I am a bilingual (Spanish-English) Clinical Psychologist that specializes in the impact of medical conditions (diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, chronic pain, endocrine problems, STD's, cancer, liver transplant, kidney transplant, among others) in the psychological, social and emotional wellbeing of the patients and families. I also specialize in depression, anxiety, adjustment process, life stressors, grief and loss, and smoking cessation.
Welcome, I’m glad you’re here! Initiating change may be one of the hardest and strongest steps you can take. I work with people facing an array of mental health concerns, and have a specialty in helping women heal from relational trauma. I find we are most often hurt in the context of relationships - a break-up, infidelity, emotional, physical or sexual abuse, being made to feel you are unloved. You may feel overwhelmingly anxious, disconnected or over-attached to loved-ones, or unable to trust. Maybe you begin isolating yourself from friendships or engaging in relationships you know aren’t healthy for you.
I have a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Assumption College. I practice cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma focused cognitive therapy and have trained to work with families and children. I strive to be nonjudgmental with a focus on individual and strength-based treatment. I believe we have skills already in place that have worked for us in the past that we need to begin to use again or adjust how we use them.
***I am not taking on new clients at this time*** You can make change. The one guarantee in life is change, though many of us have a hard time seeing any positive change in our lives. I am here to help you see the positive that life has to offer, even in the darkest of times. Maybe you are feeling stuck with no energy or motivation to push through or controlled by your fears or maybe you and your significant other just can’t seem to find common ground anymore, this is where I can help.
It is my sincere belief that we all can benefit from a safe, non-judgmental space where we can explore the most vulnerable parts of ourselves. We all have a need to be seen and heard. It is my hope to create such an environment with the therapeutic relationship at its core. I work with my clients to create a treatment plan that reflects their needs, goals and values.
