I have worked with a broad range of clientele for over 20 years now ranging from 5yrs to 70yrs. My specialization is in adolescents, adults, couples, family counseling and addict family systems. I work from a CBT approach and always keep the clients best interest at mind. I put a strong emphasis on client's privacy/ confidentiality. I believe that therapy inspires change by supporting self-awareness, insight, and growth which then impacts and improves one's life. With new insight, clients become aware of better strategies and new solutions when responding to challenges in their life. Goals of therapy can include changing behaviors that are holding you back, healing pain from your past, managing depression and anxiety, building relationship skills, and handling strong emotions such as fear, anger, sadness, and grief, to name just a few.

From the time I was young, I knew I cared. I cared about people and wanted to help others experience more fulfilling lives and relationships. I didn’t realize at the time that I wanted those experiences for myself as well. My experience growing up in a family where addiction caused great pain led me to my own problematic relationships with people, food, money and religion. Now I care about myself in ways that I never imagined possible before taking those first scary steps into my therapist’s office and asking for help. I experience life and relationships in more rewarding ways than was previously possible for me.

For the past twenty years my professional practice as a psychotherapist has co-evolved with my personal practice as a meditator and a student of Buddhist thought. As a result, the work I do with clients draws on wisdom from both Eastern and Western understandings of how suffering arises and how we can either ease it, or magnify it, with our choices of thought and behavior. My goal is to create a space of curiosity, compassion, and humor where we can identify the troublesome patterns in your life and develop wise responses to them.

I work with a variety of adult clients, both individually and in couples counseling. Many of my clients are dealing with varying levels of anxiety, depression and/or relationship struggles. Often clients have struggled with these concerns for a long time but resisted admitting that anything was wrong or seeking help.

Along with formal education, I have 20 years of experiential learning and growth with professional colleagues and with the experts in the field, the people who have survived events all across the broad spectrum of "trauma" at some time in life. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over a decade of experience in addiction, sexual, spiritual and gender identity, self-esteem, trauma and HIV. I have treated a variety of presenting conditions ranging from depression and anxiety to mood disorders, sleep issues, relationship problems and life stress. I have experience working with clients across the lifespan with a particular interest in adults and the elderly. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over thirty years of experience counseling families and individuals from 2 years old to 80 plus. I am EMDR trained to treat many issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, and grief. Using Person-Centered Counseling and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to explore and address distressing issues, special attention is given to creating a comfortable atmosphere for personal growth and self-awareness. Play Therapy and CBT Interventions help children and their parents better understand their issues while building self-esteem, teaching coping and anger management skills.
