Deciding to begin therapy is already an active choice in the direction of where you want your life to go, and finding the right “fit” is critical to making meaningful change. By working together in-session to practice strategies and identify ineffective patterns, you will be encouraged and supported to take those strategies out into your life and try them in the relationships and situations where you need them most. I utilize evidence-based techniques and emphasize collaboration to help create the changes you want for yourself: to build the life you want to live.
My professional identity is equally informed by my identification as a cognitive-behaviorist and a 4th-wave feminist. The ‘cognitive” and “behavioral’ pieces reflect my belief that our thoughts impact how we feel, which then impacts what we do. By addressing our thoughts and our behaviors, we can therefore influence and change the way we feel.
While the cognitive- behavioral influences are integral to the “nuts and bolts” of my clinical practice, much of my perspective is informed by the consideration of intersectional identities and addressing gender, racial, and systemic inequalities as they pertain to your mental health.
