I am a firm believer that life can feel so difficult, so bleak, that it is totally reasonable to sometimes question its value. I am also a firm believer that difficult, bleak things can still be meaningful, still include joy, still contain peace. I specialize in complex trauma therapy with teens and adults, frequently including domestic and sexual violence, moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses, and those with histories of self-harm and suicidality. I am an advocate before I'm a therapist, am antiracist, justice-oriented, and prioritize providing therapy with respect and compassionate curiosity.

If you’re at a point in your life where “rethinking” resonates more than “continuing as is,” you’re in the right place. You’ve been playing by the rules — the career path, the relationship milestones, the relentless pursuit of happiness as defined by everyone but yourself. Do you have everything you’re supposed to want, yet still feel like something’s missing? Maybe you’re haunted by anxiety, shame, depression, guilt, or fear, all because you’re living a life that doesn’t truly align with your values or desires.

We live in a hectic and chaotic world. Sometimes the tools we have just stop cutting it. Everything is suddenly a struggle. You may have been to a bunch of therapists and it didn't work. You may never have been to therapy and you just want to figure out how to feel better. You’re not alone, you’re not “crazy”. I can help. I'm a non binary, queer, AuDHD clinician who practices from a sex positive, trauma informed perspective and comes with an impressive list of trainings and certifications, but more importantly, I'm a regular human who's here to connect with you on a genuine and authentic level.

I am interested in all pieces of your life and leave no stone unturned in learning who you are and what you have experienced. I will look for patterns and draw connections in your thoughts, feelings and behaviors to offer you new ways to understand yourself. I love to solve puzzles and am therefore always exploring how each thought, feeling and experience fits into the big picture that is you. I am curious and empathetic with a genuine passion for helping people heal and grow. All I ask is for you to be committed to this process. Good therapy can bring about deep, profound, lasting change but it does not happen overnight.

People come to therapy seeking help for a variety of human problems. You may be in severe pain, suffering the effects of trauma, stressful events or ruptured relationships. You may need help to achieve healthy emotional boundaries with friends, loved ones, co-workers. Perhaps you simply wish to become more consciously aware of the ways in which you unknowingly sabotage living a full, satisfying life. Although I typically draw from psychodynamic, family systems and humanistic principles, I am flexible, tailoring my approach to each individual. I enjoy the challenge of working with people to solve a wide range of human difficulties.

Reaching out for help can be an intimidating journey, yet it's an act of profound courage that often emerges from the depths of vulnerability. We are inherently social beings, and our interactions shape our understanding of ourselves. But sometimes we find ourselves alone or feeling alone even when surround by people. I believe in guiding individuals from that shadow back into the light. I want to help people become the best versions of themselves. And to understand and accept that we cannot, nor should we try to be, the best version of someone else.

Life sure can throw you some curveballs, can't it? If you're going through a difficult life transition, or just haven't been feeling quite like yourself lately, working with a therapist can help. I enjoy helping clients through difficult times, whether they are circumstantial or mood-related. I work primarily with adults who are experiencing depression or anxiety and couples with relational difficulties. I have specialized training treating trauma and working with entertainment industry professionals and creatives.

Hello and welcome! If you are struggling with identity issues, anxiety, depression, sexuality, self-esteem, life transitions, and/or relationship difficulties, I believe that we can work together towards healing, resolution, and growth. I work psychodynamically with individuals and couples who want to heal past traumas and pain in order to achieve greater self-awareness, acceptance, and freedom. I believe we are all greatly affected by childhood experiences and relationships, and by examining these we can create the space for greater clarity and growth both on an individual level and within current relationships.

As an openly gay bi-cultural man, I’ve spent the better part of my adult life unlearning the harmful messages our world tells us about what it means to be different - that we are somehow broken or unworthy. I am here to tell you they are wrong. You are fabulous, vibrant, and deserving of all the gifts this world has to offer. I became a therapist to share what I’ve learned and to bring healing not just to queer folks, but to anyone who knows what it feels like to be left out. When we work together, you can expect a safe, affirming, and sometimes silly space where we collaborate to find real solutions you can implement right away.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
