My approach to psychotherapy is supportive and exploratory. People find themselves in difficult situations and complex relationships and often need to change aspects about themselves when they discover repeating patterns. I enjoy the process of developing relationships with my patients, understanding their unique stories, and helping them to identify patterns in their life that may no longer be adaptive. I use a strength based approach, trying to focus on what resilience people bring to the table. I find that actively engaging people in a collaborative process is the best way to achieve lasting change.
My practice is focused on adults and young adults, presenting with anxiety and depression, relationship issues, and situational stress. I also specialize in health psychology, exploring the mind-body connection, reducing physical aspects of stress, treating medical conditions, and women's health issues of pregnancy, infertility, and adjustment to motherhood.
I have worked in a number of settings with people of all backgrounds over the last 20 years. Finding a good match in the therapeutic relationship is not always straightforward and I try to help people identify their needs and how to best meet those needs within the therapeutic journey.
