I love helping people. I've been in practice on the Westside of Indianapolis for over 28 years. We are a general psychology practice with individual and couples counseling services, working with teens and adults. We offer some testing services as well. We have a good reputation with the Christian community in and around Indianapolis.

As a practicing school psychologist, I offer psychological testing, psychoeducational assessments, advocacy, and coaching services. I place a special focus on conducting assessments for children and adults regarding the following: early childhood services, ADHD/Executive Functioning, behavioral concerns, school-based and vocational disability services (IEP, 504 Plans, Higher Ed Disability Evaluations, SSI/SSDI evaluations), and testing accommodations (SAT, ACT, GRE, LSAT).

Whether I'm working with children, adolescents, or adults, my goal is to create a safe and accepting therapeutic space. It is within the context of interpersonal safety that the healing process can freely occur. Although I work with a variety of concerns and individuals of all ages, I specialize in trauma treatment, couples therapy, perinatal mood disorders, & sex therapy, serving the Indianapolis area. I provide psychological testing to clarify diagnoses (ADHD, anxiety, mood disorders, autism, & learning disorders). I also provide bilingual (Spanish) evaluations, immigration/extreme hardship evaluations, & FAA airman evaluations.

IPCI is a psychology practice that integrates therapy & testing services for children, teenagers, & adults into one location. As doctoral-level providers, our therapists have completed extensive training and supervision (5+ years before becoming licensed) to provide quality and effective therapy & counseling for children, adolescents, adults, & couples from all walks of life. I am a pediatric neuropsychologist with extensive experience in providing culturally sensitive and trauma informed developmental and neuropsychological evaluations to children and adolescents with a wide range of concerns, including neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, learning disorder), acquired brain injuries, and emotional and behavioral challenges (e.g., mood and impulse control disorders).

I see adults for individual psychotherapy and also provide psychological testing for children, adolescents, and adults. I work from the psychoanalytic tradition, where I emphasize the role of a patient's early attachments in the development of his/her sense of self and others. I appreciate the importance of the patient-therapist relationship and understand that trust is a necessary part of the treatment process, which includes maintaining a confidential and safe place where each patient is able to explore and work through the presenting concerns.

Since 2000, O'Brien Psychological Services has provided psychological evaluations. He currently has two locations (Indianapolis and Kokomo). Dr. O'Brien is particularly interested in psychological evaluations and consultation but, from time to time, he will accept clients for psychotherapy services. His assessment clients have included, but are not limited to, the following: psychiatric hospitals, bariatric surgery patients, international adoption clients, juvenile courts, medical practices, autism treatment centers, other mental health professionals, and various state and federal agencies. As a parent and psychologist, I enjoy supporting children as they grow and strive to be their best. At the same time, I realize that the maturation process is not always easy and both children and parents often need outside supports. I enjoy working with adults from all backgrounds for a variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief, and testing services. I have great passion for working with the geriatric population. My goal is to keep individuals as independent as possible for as long as possible. Additionally, I am a US Army combat veteran and enjoy working with military and first responders. I enjoy helping caregivers and loved ones best handle behaviors that often accompany dementia, as well as end of life issues and concerns. I provide C&P examinations for veterans in process of appealing the VA.
