As a mental health clinician, I work with clients on depression, anxiety, ADHD, anger management, grief, separation, parenting skills, communication, and family conflict. These clients come to therapy to improve their quality of life, and gain insight on how their thoughts, mood, and actions impact their overall goals. Therapy is a collaborative process involving both the client and clinician to establish a working relationship that is built on trust, compassion, and empowerment. You are the expert on yourself, and I am your guide through the process. Success comes from both of us working together as a team.

Whether you're struggling with a difficult situation, or would like to invest in improving a relationship, taking the first steps to find a counselor can be daunting. We all have struggles and need help from time to time. It's important to find a competent counselor that you can trust. I consider it a privilege to be a counselor, to be invited into my client's stories, and to walk along-side them in the midst of the challenges they are facing.

I have been trained in IMAGO relationship theory as well as EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) and enjoy working with couples.
When choosing a therapist it is important to consider many different perspectives. First and most importantly, is this someone that you will be comfortable working with? Education and experience are other considerations? However, when it comes right down to it, it's about connecting. All the great tools that a therapist may have will be useless if you do not connect with them. I have heard from many of my clients about negative experiences in the past with therapists and how they feel like nothing really happened.

My practice is nonsectarian and offers a place of healing for individuals, couples and families of all faiths or non-faith backgrounds.
Life is complicated and difficult. I believe that sooner or later we all are confronted with some aspect of living that is just too overwhelming to handle alone. Someone we love dies, or gets sick, money gets tight, relationships are strained, children have problems, and any number of symptoms start to emerge. At these times, we may be prone to despair and long for a deeper sense of satisfaction and desire more meaning for our lives. It is my hope that you will be courageous and ask for help now.

Almost all of us struggle, from time to time, with worry, unhappiness, self-hate, despair and anger. With too many negative feelings, our interpersonal lives can become conflicted and dysfunctional. We may lose our friends, job, or even our life partner, Further, we may turn to any number of drugs or behaviors to try to manage our pain. Psychotherapy helps us to understand, cope with, and even change our painful feelings and behaviors. The goal is to enjoy and engage in life more fully, and move towards the goals that will give our lives meaning and value.

In my nearly 10 years of clinical experience, I have been able to provide individuals and couples with support in understanding their experiences, emotions, and relationships. Every person who walks through my door deserves a compassionate, welcoming space to build trust. In that space, we can discover wants, needs, and values. To create and build safety within the discomfort of exploring who you are, without judgement, from yourself or anyone else. In doing so, you can better understand the person you want to become, or to better understand the true depth of what you have to offer just as you are now.

60% of why you get better in therapy is the therapeutic relationship and the other 40% are techniques to reprogram how you have been operating until now.
Hi, I'm Adam Pearson. I have a Master's in Clinical Psychology and was trained by a Psychiatrist for two years. I use a variety of techniques and tools. Therapy is typically 8-16 weeks; around eight weeks, your symptoms should go from Severe to Moderate, and 16-18 weeks, moderate to mild. I practice from a faith-based perspective, but all are welcome. You can text, call, or email; I typically see a new patient within 48-72 hours. I had PTSD, Depression, and OCD and am now free. Now it's your turn! This is where you learn to love and like yourself, maybe for the first time. I have helped 1000s. This is your flying lesson!

Individual and Couples work is my passion-adjustment and meaning, trauma, grief, addiction, sexuality and LGBTQ issues.
I believe that people need to be heard, and can find and articulate their own truth, their own path to health with compassion, empathy, and time-to tell their story, feel appreciated, to heal, and to change. I have worked to include spirituality, creativity, and the ability to accompany someone on their journey-so that our brief connections can have impact through the week, and through life. I value family input and involvement, social supports, and evidence-based methods, but more so I value my client's individual personal journey. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, and Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor.

My ideal client is suffering from anxiety or depression. They are looking for a change and seek therapy to eliminate their anxiety or mood disorder. Their number 1 problem is coping with anxiety or depression and its interference with normal life. They desire to work in counseling and learn behaviors to change the way they think and feel. They spent too much time feeling the negative effects of their problem and are ready to change. They will discover they don't have to be controlled by negative emotions, but instead can process them and decide how to respond in a more positive manner.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
