Resilience, the ability to bounce back from adversity, is born through kindness and self compassion. Trauma, feelings of anxiety, depression, lack of hope or motivation, and disconnection can cause us to lose compassion for ourselves and others. We want to feel good, be active, and live the way we want to live but sometimes stress and adversity create roadblocks that stand in the way. “I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it.” ― Maya Angelou. Welcome to Kind Minds - it takes bravery to seek therapy, I'm glad you're here!

I am a Certified EMDR therapist through the EMDR International Association as well as a Certified Emotion Code, Body Code and Belief Code Practitioner, a PSYCH-K facilitator and a Reiki master. No one comes to a therapist, or wellness practitioner because of the parts of life that are going well. We all seek help for those things that feel painful, frightening, or overwhelming.

As a depth counselor, whose practice is based in Carl Jung’s psychoanalytic therapy, I assist clients who need deep healing from grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, and other wounds to find wholeness in Self and relationships again. It takes a lot of courage to shine a light into the darkest places within, and to uncover and work with the roots of our pain. I truly believe even the most difficult challenge can hold gifts for us.

Each of us encounters moments when life leaves us feeling overwhelmed and underprepared. When we experience these challenges, it's common for sadness, worry, and conflict to leave us emotionally drained or off-balance. We may even find ourselves focusing more on the past or in the future than we are on the present moment. It is my privilege as a counselor to help clients explore these challenges, develop personal, relationship, and wellness goals, prepare for obstacles that may get in the way of meaningful change, and begin to mindfully recommit to living their best life possible.

Humanistic Therapists

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualization and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
