Starting therapy can be a scary step, but it’s a brave and important one towards finding the support and understanding you deserve. We all need a safe place to talk openly about life's challenges. I support you through listening, empathy, and seeing your strengths as you navigate challenges, concerns, worries, and mental health wellness. I specialize in stress, life transitions, relationship issues, college and career decisions, grief, parenting concerns, gender identity, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, and suicidal ideations. I work with teens, adults, couples and the LGBTQ+ community. What is bringing you to therapy?

I serve adults, families, and children (ages 4-18) with a variety of challenges. I help men and women handle breakups or relationship difficulties, cope with being single, navigate dating, create healthy relationships, manage anger/ frustration, deal with depression, explore adoptee issues, and adapt to change or loss. I serve families with children who are pushing boundaries, fighting with or blaming others, worrying excessively, yelling/talking back, lacking appropriate social skills or have poor self-esteem. I also work with adoptive families who are concerned about their adopted child's "problem" behaviors, difficulties adjusting, or challenges in connecting with others.

I work with individuals (16+) to explore and address anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, self-esteem, grief/ loss, family dynamics, and relational concerns.
Therapy is a unique opportunity to explore ourselves, & how we relate to others, in an intentional way. I’ve been providing therapy in private practice for 12+ years & believe a supportive therapeutic relationship is the foundation for a meaningful therapy experience. You can expect compassion, curiosity, & even humor to be a part of our work together. I love to support clients in both symptom reduction, as well as improved wellness & a better sense of self. I work with high achievers who are not used to taking time and space for their own care - college students, parents, executives, helping professions, etc.

Understanding grief, loss, and trauma with all of the nuances of adoption and foster care, along with the military lifestyle is where my main focus aims to serve.
I believe one of the bravest things you can do is better understand your own story. Working through your past allows you to better understand your patterns, beliefs, and strengths to optimize where you are headed. Too often in life, we experience events that silence us, making it hard to know where to turn. In my office I work hard to create and hold spaces for my clients that are rooted in compassion, empathy, and safety. No matter where you are in your healing journey, I believe everyone has the potential to find more peace and live closer to their authentic beings.

I've got a special interest in sexuality, body image, ENM, grief/anticipatory loss, and spirituality/religion.
Happy to meet you! I know this “therapy” thing can feel intimidating and vulnerable, trust and believe you will find no judgment from me. My goal is to give you a space where you can share your whole story, and know you are being listened to. I believe therapy works best when the client plays an equally if not more active role - you are the main character, I am your loyal companion on the road to your goals. I make space to process the present and explore the past. I strive to create room for humor while on the road to healing - that road can be rough, let's appreciate the small moments of joy!

My work explores all mental health with a focus on traumatic grief and loss.
“..Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars” -Martin Luther King, Jr. It may be a dark time in your life or you may be unable to see your own goodness buried deep inside. Possibly you just want to explore what makes you happy and alive. There are so many reasons to seek out counseling and it is because of those reasons I became a therapist. I'm naturally curious about human nature. That, along with my knowledge of mind and body, neuroscience of the brain, and over 20 years of therapy experience, I can help you find the answers you are searching for.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
