Societal messaging on grief and loss can be dismissive.
Of all human experience, nothing can fully prepare one for the pain of grief and loss. Perhaps you are grieving the loss of an important relationship, the end of a meaningful career, loss of employment, a miscarriage(s), the sudden death of someone close, losses due to COVID-19, loss of sense of self, or loss related to life cycle transitions. Maybe you are grieving a suicidal loss. If this resonates with your circumstances, I invite you to explore as well as honor your emotions. Please contact me if you would like greater processing, adjusting, and acceptance in your life to help increase your sense of agency.

I specialize working with complex trauma, grief, and neurodivergence, often with cyclical depression and anxiety.
I enjoy working with clients who want to do in-depth work exploring root causes and heal from deep pain. Often many don’t realize what they have experienced is valid, significant, and worth exploring. It could be something buried or brushed off from your childhood, close relationships, a recent stressor. Over time, things left unresolved and carried with us can resurface, impact relationships with ourselves and others, and become harder to avoid. It's hard holding it all together and it’s okay if can't anymore. You don’t have to do it alone.

The tools and skills of Grief Recovery will help you end the anguish and loneliness of a broken heart.
As we commemorate National Grief Awareness Day on August 30, here are three warning signs of unresolved loss and grief. Are you suffering from any of these? 1) One of the most common symptoms is isolation. When people are shut off from others, anger, sadness and depression begin to interfere with our thinking processes. 2) Incomplete recovery over a lifetime creates unhappiness. When losses pile up, often beginning in childhood, we lock our hearts away. We look for relief through distractions. 3) Reactions become disproportionate. People who blow up at the slightest thing are often those who have not resolved inner pain.

Thank you for visiting my page today. I look forward to learning about you and hope I can help you on your journey of self-discovery. Navigating life after trauma, grief, or any life adjustment can bring a plethora of emotions to the surface in ways that can feel isolating and stressful. Whether it be anxiety, depression, anger, grief, or interpersonal relationship stress, talk therapy can help to find yourself again. Although I am passionate about helping those affected by Complex PTSD, Anxiety, Addiction, and Eating Disorders, I utilize DBT, CBT, and Narrative techniques for all my clients in an effort to find peace.

Before joining the Abundance team, I worked in San Diego at a family therapy agency where I had the opportunity to work with clients and their families through several themes, some of which were: anxiety, depression, family conflict, stress, trauma and grief.
Hi, Iʼm Kylee! Iʼm so happy youʼre here! Therapy can often seem like a journey of uncertainty and can even be a little scary. I want you to know that no matter where we go, I will be there by your side to sit with you through your story. As your therapist, I believe you are the expert of your life and I am deeply honored to be able to navigate your life experiences in a safe, empathetic and non-judgmental environment with you. There can be a lot of different emotions that may arise through experiences such as life transitions, anxiety or grief and it may seem overwhelming.

Overall, my experiences have been working with children and families who have undergone many losses, child abuse, grief issues, separation, depressive symptoms, PTSD, family and relationship issues, domestic violence, substance use/abuse, involvement with court and government agencies and changes of life.
Bi-lingual: Korean-American Marriage and Family Therapist in Los Angeles County - Just minutes from Koreatown and Hancock Park area. Although looking in the mirror may not seem so difficult, looking beyond what is on the surface and into our souls - it can be. What everyone sees on the outside may not be how it feels inside. What seems small to others may be life changing for you. How do you cope with what life brings to you? How is it working for you?

Hello and welcome. So let's start by dispelling the common misconception that therapy is for the weak and broken. This could not be more untrue. Therapy is for the bold and intrepid. Therapy is for those who are unwilling to accept how things are and choose instead to brave the roads less traveled in search of something better. So whether your dissatisfaction lies in patterns that you can't seem to break free of, turbulent relationships with partners, family or friends, or in the daunting challenges posed by depression, anxiety, grief et al., your insistence for change not only should never be shamed, it should be deeply admired.

Hi there, I'm Holly. Thanks for stopping by! I believe in the strength we have as humans and I want to see you find that in yourself. I believe in the process of therapy and know firsthand powerful it can be to have someone else bear witness to your journey. I know it can be scary to start therapy and there is a lot about it that can feel taboo about sharing such vulnerability with another person, but I promise it will be worth your time.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
