Resolve issues related to: Depression, Anxiety, Family conflicts, Parenting concerns, Anger, Job loss, Feeling "stuck", Major life changes, Feeling out of touch w/ reality, School stress, Grief.
Therapy has a way of helping you grow from within. Therapist do not have the answers, just a way of helping you toward your own solutions. Sometimes just breathing can seem difficult & we begin to feel overwhelmed with daily life stressors. When we share these challenges, we open ourselves for change, growth, & hopefulness. Children in therapy can learn emotional awareness & coping to guide them to adulthood. Even if you have previous unfavorable experiences with therapy or you are apprehensive about the thought of entering therapy, I encourage you to contact us for more information on the benefits of therapeutic relationships.

I enjoy working with people who believe they are at their breaking point and don't know what else to do. Whether it be "mid-life crisis", going off to college, school and work demands, relationship issues, struggles with parenting, stress, depression, anxiety or ADD. Do you look in the mirror and not recognize yourself? Does your teen appear to be struggling? Do you often wonder if there is something more? Have your friends or family told you that counseling might help you? If you are wondering if you would benefit from counseling then you would benefit from counseling. Life doesn't have to be this hard for you or someone you love.

I offer both group and individual therapy for people on a fertility journey, including experiencing infertility, undergoing IUI/IVF, as well as experiencing intended parenthood, pregnancy, the "fourth trimester,” and parenting after infertility.
For over 35 years, as both a fertility psychologist and OB/GYN with a strong interest in infertility, I have loved helping people on their fertility journey. Are you on a fertility journey? Have you experienced obstacles along the way? Perhaps nothing is as disempowering as struggling with fertility. For many of us, issues with fertility mark the first time that we've wanted our bodies to do something that they seem not capable of doing. Challenges with fertility are traumatic experiences. Is it any wonder why we may be struggling?

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
