Therapy should encompass the whole person: body, mind, spirit and emotions. Our human complexities make us vulnerable to imbalances, which may arise when one of our interconnected parts is affected. In other words, when one area of our lives is not working properly, our overall health may suffer. The agreed-on interventions will enhance your capacities, bring you increased quality of life and resolution to problems, and facilitate transitions to a place of emotional healing.

Hi, I'm Toli and I'm here to help you move through the stuck-points that have been holding you back! Maybe you have come to the conclusion that it's time to address trauma from an old chapter of your life that just keeps popping up in your present. Perhaps you've been grieving a loss but find it hard to talk to the people around you about it because they just don't quite get it. You may be questioning your sexual orientation or gender identity and could use a non-judgmental supporter to accompany you on your journey. Whatever the case may be, I would be honored to play a role in your life story!

Have you ever felt like no one understands what you are going through? That you are alone on this road called life and not really sure where it is taking you? You may feel “weak” if you seek therapy, but let me tell you that is the complete opposite of what you are. By you finding help you are proving to yourself that you are stronger than what you think. As you take this big step in your journey it can bring a lot of nerves and excitement at the same time. It is not easy to find a stranger to talk about your feelings with. I want to be the person who will fill your cup up when you need it the most.

When relief from our distress can't come quickly enough, it can feel uncomfortable to reach out to someone you don't know for help. Whether you are a sleep-deprived new parent, navigating a loss in your relationships or goals, or pivoting from life's changes, it's tempting to push ourselves to muddle through on our own. Many times this leads us to being harder on ourselves than we deserve, and we are left feeling even more tired, stressed, or burned out. You deserve a space for you to just "be"... to breathe, feel, examine, heal, and experience authentic, judgment-free support.

I am an EMDRIA-Approved EMDR Therapist. I also use traditional talk therapy with my clients. My therapeutic approach is based on the individual's specific needs. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of therapy that enables you to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. No longer does your past have to be your present. If it is causing you distress, there are interventions that you can use to transcend your suffering. I would love to assist you on your journey of healing. Let us work together to decide what would be the best approach for you.

Cognitive Processing (CPT) Therapists

How does cognitive processing therapy work?

A CPT therapist helps a client evaluate their thoughts about the trauma they experienced, focusing on maladaptive or self-blaming thoughts that can exacerbate symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or depression. The therapist will work with a client to help them learn to challenge such thoughts and consider different perspectives. The therapist is also likely to ask a client to work on these techniques at home between meetings, such as writing an account of their trauma that can be read aloud during a future session.

What is cognitive processing therapy for PTSD?

Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy primarily used in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to treat individuals who experienced abuse or violence, who survived natural disasters, who were first responders to such incidents, or who otherwise experienced trauma.

How long does cognitive processing therapy last?

CPT is a short-term therapy. Whether conducted one-on-one or in a group, a complete set of CPT sessions typically includes 12 weekly sessions, along with tasks for clients to complete at home, although this can vary depending on a client’s needs or a therapist’s particular treatment plan. Sessions typically last 60 or 90 minutes.

How effective is cognitive processing therapy?

A large body of research supports the use of CPT to treat people experiencing PTSD, finding it to be effective among different age groups, either in one-on-one therapy sessions or in a group therapy environment. Research suggests that although the initial sessions may be difficult, clients tend to begin to feel positive progress after the first few sessions, and that the benefits tend to last well after the therapy ends.
