LPC Associate serving individuals and couples in the state of Texas. Most frequently I work with adults, teens, and couples experiencing life transitions, internal conflict, and relational conflict on their journeys toward connection and wholeness. For some this might look like finding coping skills to grow through feelings of depression and anxiety; for others, it can look like processing the impact of family dynamics on your current relationships with yourself and others. Folks experiencing challenges at the intersections of race, religion, sexuality, and culture are all welcome!

I believe that we grow across the lifespan. It is never too late to look inside ourselves, understand and connect with ourselves and those around us, and believe that change is possible. Even in the most painful, lonely, and frightening life situations, we can still reach out to get help – even if we don’t know what it is yet. I offer a connection and a safe place to explore your inner world, in an open and accepting manner.

I help men and women release problematic patterns through guiding them to a deeper and authentic understanding of their life. Once a pattern is understood and released, I support them in stepping into their own personal power, which is needed to create new healthy patterns of living. With this renewed sense of self empowerment, new patterns are woven together from a place of self-understanding, self-love and self-authorship; a greater sense of wholeness, happiness, and true inner peace physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually emerges. I believe in taking a holistic view of each individual, considering not only their internal experiences but also their external environment and relationships. By understanding the whole ecosystem of a person, including their strengths and patterns, we can tailor a treatment plan that is truly effective. One unique aspect of my background is my professional training in integrating a client’s faith practice with their treatment process, if desired. I respect and honor each client’s beliefs and preferences, ensuring that treatment is always client-motivated and client-led.

I practice what I term Integral Personal Growth Work....integrating body, mind and spirit. I embrace the belief that each of carries within us the capacity for healing, growth and the recovery of our original birthright for wholeness. My work is intended to facilitate and cooperate with what is already "wanting to happen" with-in each of us. I seek to address early damage, emotional deficits and developmental traumas that can block our capacity for full aliveness leaving us consciously and unconsciously locked into coping patterns that often inhibit our becoming all we can be and celebrating the gifts that are our true essence.

Coming to therapy requires courage, and I offer an empathic and supportive space where patients can feel understood, valued, and accepted as they are. I approach therapy through an important lens: that lasting change and healing comes from understanding the present-day impact of one’s past experiences and relationships, most importantly with oneself. Whether you are hoping to better manage stress and anxiety, navigate a challenging time in your life, strengthen your relationships, let go of feelings of insecurity, or improve your overall wellbeing, I can help.

ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS. TELEHEALTH AND FACE TO FACE. My approach to counseling focuses on how the influences of the past affect the decisions and interactions you are having today. Throughout our therapy, together, you and I will look at the different aspects of your personality, how you were raised, and the messages you received from you parent(s), and how you functioned in the family system. In addition, both of us will work on counseling goals, which will govern the direction of your counseling process.

Hello. As a therapist practicing for over 15 years I consider it an honor to walk beside my clients as they approach their struggles. Life is hard. It's sad, lonely, aggravating and completely relentless sometimes. We all need a nonjudgmental ear to aid in our own understanding of what might have us seemingly stuck.

Hey there! Thank you for visiting my profile, and welcome! There are many reasons one may to turn to therapy. Maybe you are experiencing a change or loss, maybe you have gone through an event that has affected your mental health, or maybe it’s just that something doesn't feel right or someone doesn't treat you well. I like to say “the breadcrumbs make the bread" - it is the little things that add up.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
