Helping those in my community struggling with racial identity and acculturative stress, as well as helping couples improve their relationships, reconnect and improve communication are also important focuses of my practice.
Remember growing up and thinking, "I can't wait until I'm grown!" and then you grow up and think "OMG take me back!" My role as a therapist is to walk with you along this pebbled path, and provide a safe space to build resiliency so you can move towards what you truly value. As a Licensed Master's level Psychologist (LPA), I specialize in therapy for anxiety, binge eating disorder, self-esteem, body-image, as well as those dealing with adjustment to college and/or life transitions, finding work/life balance, enhancing leadership skills and building confidence as an entrepreneur.

I do not believe there is a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I adopt a collaborative approach to treatment working closely with my clients to determine goals for counseling. Together, we will explore both the current circumstances and the past experiences that are contributing to your concerns. Then, we team up to find solutions to current problems and work to heal old wounds. I use an eclectic approach tailored to the specific needs of each client, but primarily draw from psychodynamic, existential, CBT, and mindfulness interventions.

Listen, I get it. Life isn't always easy, but that doesn't mean that you aren't able to create an experience that brings you joy. Anxiety doesn't have to hinder you. Traumatic experiences don't have to hinder you. Life changes, whether becoming a new parent or wanting to be the version of you that makes you happy, are a part of the process. You are more than capable of working through those things that might feel like they are meant to break you. Stand in your power, and if you'll have me, I'd love to help you along the way.

When you make the decision to “do the work”, you’re making a crucial, yet rewarding step toward taking charge of your life, whatever that may look like for you. I understand that no two roadmaps are the same and I honor that by taking an eclectic approach to therapy. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship/martial issues or everyday stressors, having therapeutic counsel can be essential while navigating through life.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Clinical Psychology and graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. My therapy approach is taken from an attachment theory and perspective. I believe humans are wired to feel connected, and that we all greatly benefit from healthy relationships. Without this connectedness, we may experience loneliness or isolation. I provide a safe, accepting space for individuals, couples, and families using a positive Existential Therapy Model to support self-awareness, meaningful relationships, and values of life.

You've found yourself feeling stuck, living the same story over and over. Its the same -thing, just a different day. Sure, things seem to be changing, but you constantly feel like you are not! Sometimes, you even feel disconnected from yourself. You hope to reconnect with yourself, have deeper connections to others, and a overall sense of stability and safety that maybe you havent experienced. You hope to start to explore deeply rooted narratives, struggles, and live a fulfilling, enriching life.

In the realm of family planning, the significant issues of infertility & pregnancy loss tend to be overlooked, just like those who are experiencing these profound traumas. Some embark on the path of fertility treatments, including complex methods like IVF, while others proceed on the journey without them. As you navigate these foreign spaces, you encounter misunderstandings & judgments from individuals who can't comprehend your unique experiences. Amidst these circumstances, it can be difficult to maintain a sense of hope for positive outcomes, especially when you are consumed by the pain of losing someone you deeply love.

Life is tough. There are many trials and hardships we experience and sometimes we carry all of that with us until we reach a point where we stop feeling like ourselves or have never truly found the self we wanted to be. I am here to help you find the self you desire and have been wanting to reach. Together, we will work to overcome the obstacles life has put up and work towards healing from areas of the past that have held you for too long. I am a firm believer that when we take the first step in taking care of ourselves mentally, emotionally. physically, and/or spiritually, our perspective starts to change and restoration begins.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
