It can happen to anyone. Life is going along just fine, and then before you realize what happened, you find yourself in a tough situation you never expected. Coping with it has been far from easy, to say the least. You're not alone! If it's a traumatic event, if it's ongoing circumstances that impact your mood and overall functioning, perhaps I can help. I have specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, as well as Solutions-Focused Therapy. I use a holistic approach; considering the whole person in their environment.

Using the skills I have been equipped with, my goal is to encourage the individual, couple, or family I work with to achieve their goals and begin the journey to healing.
Life can be overwhelming, and trying to understand and process these experiences can be difficult. Understanding your mental health and how to care for your well-being can be a life-changing experience for many. Those suffering from anxiety, depression, relational/familial conflict or trauma, or just looking for an outside perspective are a few of the reasons why some seek therapy. Having a mental health professional who understands your needs can allow for self-growth and transformation within the therapeutic process.

I found my love for counseling in aiding individuals with addiction and their family members find recovery.
Hi! My name is Trista. Whatever journey has brought you to my page, I am so proud of you for being here. A little bit about me: I am married, I have two fur babies who are very spoiled, and I have a slight obsession for plants. Most importantly, I am blessed and honored with the privilege to sit with people in the most vulnerable times in their lives.

I look forward to walking with you and your family as you move forward.
Life can be difficult to navigate and we all can use an empathetic ear and encouraging word, I hope to be that for my clients. It is my goal to listen to my clients and teach them the tools they need to navigate these difficult feelings. As a mom I know how difficult it can be to watch your child struggle with any issue they may face. It is my goal to walk through these difficult times with you and provide you and your child with the support you need.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
