I start with a mindfullness centered approach along with CEBT and EMDR techniques to allow your brain to heal and solve the situations that you are placed in.
Currently accepting patients for Telehealth sessions and remote EMDR. I've been blessed to be able to work in this field for over the last 25 years, 16 as a psychotherapist. Over that time I've been able to work with a myriad amount of problems, ranging from anxiety, depression, substance abuse, ADHD in both adults and children, as well as work with families in distress. I personally take great enjoyment in working with people with anxiety based difficulties and trauma, having had the greatest success with this population.

I use a blend of self-compassion training, culturally-grounded Belief Systems Analysis, Energy Psychology, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR), and traditionally Western psychological approaches to help you transform self-defeating patterns into ones that support your new direction.
Counseling requires a commitment of time, resources, and effort that can be hard to carve out in these busy times. My focus is on using our sessions to help you make the desired changes as efficiently as possible. We are working to get you unstuck and moving in a better direction. With that in mind, I use a goal-focused, strategic counseling model. This process works well if you are truly ready for change but may not know how to get there.

Using a holistic approach, I tailor my work to each individual, combining solution focused or narrative therapy with EMDR, EFT, IFS, according to their unique needs while emphasizing the importance of the mind-body connection.
In these stressful times you may find yourself struggling with feelings of anxiety or depression that have long been with you or have emerged in response to recent events. You may feel hopeless about the future or plagued about the past feeling a strong sense of disconnection from yourself or others. Even attempts to talk to friends or family fail as they may not know or understand how to help you. Regardless of the specific nature of your difficulties, their impact is palpable, affecting your health, your relationships and self-perception. Whatever the struggle, you are looking for some help.

My thorough expertise in EMDR provides a look at an individual from a ‘core beliefs’ perspective, exploring how life’s experiences have affected one’s self perception.
“Therapy is like being presented with two different paths, and choosing the road less taken” We are all products of our personal experiences. This is what makes each of us unique, coming into treatment with our own story. Im interested in hearing your story, helping you discover new ways to navigate your life. Each individual needs a different approach in treatment, and my goal is to individualize the process to help you reach your personal goal. It would be my privilege to work with you so we can together reach emotional wellness.

I offer traditional talk therapy as well as Brain spotting and EMDR.
Where would you be if you permitted yourself to say “yes”? Yes, to growth, to healing, to finding your happiness and strength. I have extensive training in trauma-based techniques and models. As your therapist, my goal is to empower you to identify patterns and confront behaviors that are no longer serving you. I firmly believe that therapy can be utilized proactively at any time in our lives-not just in times of distress. To more deeply understand our needs and patterns, build healthy coping skills, and create positive interactions.

I use EMDR, IFS, psychodynamic theory, somatic experiencing, trauma informed yoga, guided imagery, dream work & spiritual integration.
Therapy should help you change your life. You are generally self-aware, highly functional and yet, find yourself feeling stuck in the same ways, the same feelings of self doubt, anxiety, guilt, shame, or fear, regardless of the relationships or circumstance. Together we gently find the root of those unhelpful stories, limiting narratives, & memories that are "frozen in time" in the body and mind. It is a difficult thing to heal what feels so normal to us. When we continually come back to the same belief or feeling over & over, we can be certain our past is informing our present.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
