As a social worker with special training in the areas of mental health, domestic violence, trauma (including sexual abuse and assault), self harm, anxiety, depression and grief & loss, I will draw on these experiences to help you or your child (aged 13 or older).
Current openings are between 9 am and 2 pm. Life sure has a lot of rough patches! The feelings of overwhelming sadness, excessive worry, or the uncertainty that unforeseen situations bring can make us forget how strong we really are. I work with adults, young adults, and adolescents who are having a hard time coping with stress the way they used to. I consider it a privilege to be with people as they navigate these difficult times in their lives. Together we will find what works for you/ your teen so that life becomes manageable again and those strengths shine through.

Have you thought about seeing a therapist, but the idea of talking to a stranger stops you from taking the next step? Perhaps you have needed this for a long time, and you have finally decided to take the next step? My style is warm, collaborative, and down to earth. Lets face it, we live in a stressful society where we need additional support. I know reaching out can be difficult so I try to make the process as simple as possible. You can call, email and/or text me to set up an appointment. I maintain a highly responsive, accessible, and concierge-type practice so you can have as much or little support you in along the way!

Asking for help is difficult, thank you for considering me. Lets explore if drugs and/or alcohol are having undesirable effects on your life. I am a person in long term recovery. Lived experience and employment throughout the treatment modalities has given me a broad perspective including an expertise in Medication Assisted Recovery. I help people better understand the disease of addiction and the resulting confusing and unmanageable behaviors. And then, work towards better ways of handling day-to-day interactions that align with a happier life. Recovery is possible. Recovery happens.

I love working with youth and their families. I am deeply passionate about assisting those I work with to find their voice again. I am skilled at helping others learn how to advocate, love, and believe in themselves. I believe that true growth only occurs when a person is allowed to shine. I enjoy working with college students, those who are navigating adjustments and change, LGBT+ and Black and other PoC populations. Anti-Racist and Feminist ideology inform my practice. I enjoy supporting those who have been historically excluded and do so with deep conviction and dedication.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
