My methods include evidence-based practices (CBT, DBT, Mindfulness-based stress reduction, and Solution-focused brief therapy) and expressive, spiritual techniques to improve insight and self-reflection.
The clients I have enjoyed working with have wanted to work on some aspect of themselves, like improving their sense of self worth, or trying to understand why their relationships typically didn't work out, or simply just trying to cope with the day to day. My clients come from a wide background of cultures, such as: the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities; those with a criminal background; those with a history of substance abuse/dependence; those suffering from chronic pain/illness; and those with a history of trauma. I welcome all walks of life in my office and work hard to continually educate myself in multicultural issues.

Art therapy, CBT, DBT, and ACT are also modalities that I emphasize in my approach.
Hello and welcome. There is never an invalid reason to come into therapy. My ideal client would be someone who is open-minded to the therapeutic process. I seek to work collaboratively with clients to help them reach their goals. It is my hope that I can provide different insight and perspectives. Most importantly, I seek to provide a safe space for any client to express themselves freely.

I pull from my training in evidence-based treatment modalities and integrate principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and sensorimotor therapy.
Sometimes we need extra support, a different perspective, or a space where we can visit our past and present to better move toward our future. Regardless of your need or reason for seeking therapy, I strive to meet you where you’re at and work with you to meet your goals.

I describe my talk therapy approach as eclectic, meaning I incorporate aspects of multiple modalities (CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, solutions-focused, etc.
I value the therapeutic relationship and prioritize creating a safe space for all clients to be their authentic selves. As a client, therapy is self-care and your time to show up for you. As your therapist, I will show up with you and offer unconditional support to help you reach your goals. I believe change happens when we are uncomfortable and so, as your therapist, I will gently challenge you as a way to uncover the happiest and healthiest version of yourself.

I practice CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, multicultural counseling, strength-based therapy, solution-focused therapy, as well as play, art and music therapies.
I believe that therapy works best when a client is ready for change. Therapy should be a collaborative process between client and therapist. Client strengths, stressors, triggers, symptoms and environmental factors need to be explored in order to create insight. This insight, in turn, assists the client in establishing positive coping skills in order to create a happier and more fulfilling life. Change can be a difficult and intimidating process, but with the courage and strength of the client, anything is possible. Part of my role is to assist clients in understanding unhealthy patterns of behavior that can make them feel "stuck".

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
