My work has focused on individuals and couples in a variety of situations.
Although you’re stepping into therapy, I view therapy as me stepping into your world. It's a collaborative space where we work together to achieve your goals and improve your life and relationships. I'm deeply honored to be invited into this vulnerable space. I don’t take that responsibility lightly! Therapy is an investment, not just for now but for the future. I will work with you to help you build skills and tools that support your current journey and will continue to serve you as you face future challenges.

I've published scientific articles on effective couples therapy and how parents can foster healthy child development.
Just like our bodies can get bruised and broken so can our hearts, minds, emotions, and relationships. Whether it's relational problems, feeling down and depressed, anxious and worried, or other difficulties, a healing process is needed. My goal is to make that healing as quick and effective for you as possible.

I have experience in reunification therapy, TRBI child therapy and couples counseling.
My ideal clients come in with past traumas that they are hoping to heal from. These trauma's could be childhood traumas, relationship abuse, military trauma, child birth traumas, or sexual dysfuntions that resulted in traumatic experiences. I truly believe that more healing happens from resolving trauma than nearly anything else. My goal for therapy is to help you heal, to help bring joy and light back into your life. You are not defined by the experiences you have had and they shouldn't alter your happiness. Healing from trauma is one of the most rewarding experiences that can happen in therapy. I believe you can do it!

I have loved working with all of my clients - I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families, including children and adolescents.
Taking care of our mental health is just as important as our physical health. I believe healing and thriving occur through creating new meaning from our life experiences and through nurturing loving connection with others and ourselves. I also understand coming to therapy to get help with life's challenges can be scary. You don’t have to do this alone, and I will go at your pace and support you in developing the skills and confidence to face those challenges. Every human is worthy of love, acceptance, and respect just as they are, and I work hard to create a safe space for my clients where they feel they can share and be themselves.

I am trained in two forms of trauma therapy: EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), and I have a background in EFT for couples (Emotionally Focused therapy).
Life can get extremely complicated, hard, and painful. I’ve found two heads are better than one when it comes to your growth and healing. I enjoy employing a larger team sometimes: I can offer my therapy dog, Solas. I can also provide equestrian sessions where you can engage with horses in a therapeutic setting. Whether you are coming in as a couple, individual or a family - I can help you navigate a variety of issues such as: anxiety, depression, conflict, boundaries, spirituality, sexual abuse, men’s issues, self esteem, and emotional regulation.

Areas I focus on are persistent depression, anxiety, social anxiety, trauma, faith challenges, LGBTQ+, ADHD, ASD, open relationships, and relationship/marital problems.
I'm here to work with anyone who feels like a misfit and outcast in this community. Especially LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent (ADHD and ASD) folk. Also all sexual, relationship, and gender orientations and all body types. I see you! I welcome you! You are accepted as you are! Feeling different can often lead to trauma, and trauma can lead to feeling misunderstood and hopelessness. I'm here for it all. I'm here to help you heal and thrive in this wonderful, crazy world. I also work with couples navigating mixed-faith marriages, non-monogamy, intimacy, and communication barriers.

As a Clinical Social Worker, I have expertise in sensory processing disorder, depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, addictions, relationship issues, communication problems, grief and loss.
Are you plagued with “if only?”: If only I had the patience to deal with my child’s tantrums. If only I had more time to be a good parent. If only I could explain to others about my child’s difficulties. If only I had support. The if only can be overwhelming when dealing with a child that seems different from others of his or her age group. Each child is special and unique. Allow me to guide your child and your family to a better understanding of the unique strengths and qualities they are capable of.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
