Life can be hard, confusing and even painful. You have just taken the first and hardest step by being here. As a licensed psychologist, I offer psychotherapy to individuals with an emphasis on adults and adolescents. Together our purpose will be working towards a healthier, happier and more meaningful life. My approach is empowering, insightful and collaborative. I strive to take an active role in the therapy process and help you discover things that need to change to improve your life, and then how to actually implement those changes.

Making the initial phone call to seek counseling can be one of the most difficult things to do. I have worked with many clients who initially avoid counseling because of fear, shame, or anxiety around sharing their experience. My hope is to be a safe place to process the ups and downs of life. Hello and welcome! Healing is a journey and we all need someone to witness that journey, to walk alongside us as we face the things in our lives that have been deeply painful. We all need someone to care deeply, affirm and validate our experiences, and help us discover what is holding us back from experiencing the change and life we long for. Therapy can be that space for you, to come as you are and experience acceptance, love, hope, and truly being heard. It can be a place where you can grow in awareness and understanding of where you have been, as well as all that you were created to be.

I use narrative therapy, which helps you separate yourself from your problems and then conquer them. It's like rewriting your story; your problems become the villains, and therapy helps you defeat them. In addition to narrative therapy, I am also an EMDR Level I & II practitioner, a therapy which helps you to reprocess traumatic memories so that you are no longer triggered by them. Our practice is accepting new clients.

Sandra is a licensed therapist and a Christian Counselor practicing in Northern Colorado (centrally located in the Loveland, Fort Collins, and Windsor area) and CA (Telehealth only). She has been practicing psychotherapy since 2004. She holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Social Work Degrees with high honors from the University of Southern California. Sandra is a licensed clinical social worker in the states of California and Colorado. Her commitment to the field extends to education, as she has served as an adjunct professor at Colorado State University, School of Social Work, Master of Social Work Program.

Like you, I am human. I’ve had many sweet moments in my life. But I’ve also had some experiences that were pretty brutal. Plus, some stretches in-between when I was simply adrift, dealing with tough decisions, feeling alone, a bit lost, trying to manage the tectonic shifts of being mortal. I was always grateful for family and friends. But sometimes they weren’t enough. When I finally gathered the courage to see a therapist for the first time, it was a remarkable experience for me, completely different from talking with my buddies! I felt like the counselor understood me in a way I didn't even understand myself.
