I practice through a holistic approach, as healing is done through whole self. I use several modalities; cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, and person-centered therapy. Whether therapy is needed for children or adults, each session will be based on the needs of the client by creating a safe environment for growth and identification of what brings you to counseling.

I specialize in children, teenagers, and young adults with anxiety and depression, especially with estrangement issues such as conflict with parents, divorced and/or deployed parents, as well as career planning. I have experience treating those with mild symptoms who need a sounding board to those with severe suicidal ideation and self-harm who need a comprehensive treatment plan integrated with multiple providers. I am a Christian and can offer help from a biblical perspective if desired.

I help create the person you envision yourself to be, getting past barriers you experience in putting it all in place. Self esteem, confidence, identifying and neutralizing triggers, healing from trauma, addiction, weight, focus, and pro active behaviors are my areas of specialty. I am a holistic practitioner and specialize in drug free treatment modalities such as EMDR, hypnosis (guided meditation/affirmation), and energy psychology (eft tapping) that allow you to peel away behaviors that get between you and your best expression of yourself. I am especially attuned to young and mature adults in helping to meet their needs.

Distressing symptoms in the present often are from situations in the past which when addressed people report feeling free in the present to become their authentic selves and accomplish their goals. I wanted to become better prepared and so studied beyond basic EMDR training to become a Certified EMDR Therapist with the International Association (EMDRIA). Primarily I work with veterans, adults, young adults and seniors that struggle with past unresolved trauma or distress, PTSD, over reactions, anger, depression, anxiety and fear, impulsivity, low self esteem and confidence, emotional mood swings, as well as aging issues.

I want to help people who want to help themselves to have a more joyful and hopeful life. My focus is on your strengths, as I believe if we focus on our strengths, it is easier to overcome our challenges. As a counselor and a former school counselor and teacher, I have worked with adults, teens and children from all walks of life, including military and their families. I am empathetic and compassionate. My goal is that you gain more hope when working with me. I am grateful for every client I work with. In person therapy is offered to those who are vaccinated.

For over thirty-five years, I have worked with persons dealing with trauma, divorce, remarriage, co-parenting issues, and partner and family issues. I work with adults, couples, & families. I enjoy working with persons from diverse cultural, ethnic, racial, national, religious, socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as sexual orientations.

In my experience in working with adults and teenagers, I have had the privilege of serving on a primary care team providing counseling services by recognizing, treating, and managing mental health and psychosocial issues in a hospital setting and promoted student success by providing preventive services, with an emphasis on social emotional needs through a comprehensive school counseling program within school settings. This has led me to be adaptable and versatile in my approaches while helping others find balance and happiness.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that has been in practice since 2005. I work primarily with individuals and families; age 12 and above.
