I work with those who are new to therapy or those who have found themselves stuck in previous therapies, or somewhere in between. I work to support those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, stress/burnout, life transitions, relationship issues, self esteem , or a lack of sense of self. Many of my clients have felt a sense of invalidation in their lives and currently struggle with reaching their goals or becoming their true authentic selves. My experiences have allowed me to develop a therapeutic approach that is balanced between being validating and nurturing with being direct and challenging.

The truth is that stress does not only impact your thoughts and emotions, but can manifest as bodily aches and pains. Emotional fatigue can take a huge toll making life feel overwhelming, impossible to understand, or even pointless. I help my clients by teaching practices that connect the mind and body, so that we can use simple body movements and breathing techniques to relax the mind. I utilize evidence-based modalities to improve mental health and support clients in getting back their energy for life. One of my motivations is to see others gain self-awareness, improve self-esteem and learn self-advocacy.

Life is demanding. Sometimes it helps to have a place where you can slow down and think, feel, and talk at your own pace. If you’re feeling stuck or dealing with stress, therapy can help. We can explore whatever feels meaningful to you.

I work with people who believe that relationships (with others, ourselves, and our environments) are what make life meaningful. If you’re struggling to feel consistent or fulfilled, I can provide support while we work to identify and address the contributing issues. I have a special interest in self-esteem related to ADHD and learning disabilities, but work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families around a variety of issues.

I enjoy working with clients who are motivated to look at their issues and be willing to change. I feel the therapeutic relationship is a collaborative effort conducted in a safe and caring environment. The relationship between the therapist and the client is as important in the healing process as any techniques that are used. I feel it is important to empower individuals to go out and live a rich and fulfilling life. I certainly believe that it is a privilege and an honor to participate in helping people heal through their life's most challenging times.

Professionals and Millennials often feel deeply the stresses of work, family struggles, and relationship or dating challenges. Any of these can have you overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, hurtful people, low self-esteem, comparing to others, or not feeling "good enough." You take care of everyone yet don't get your own needs met. You seek a partner or to improve your relationship, but your past gets in the way. A parent (still!)makes family harmony difficult. I've worked alongside people in their 30s and 20s at universities and nonprofits on three continents. And I can help you live your whole authentic self with less stress.

I believe we heal by accepting ourselves, transforming our challenges, and taking action - not through endless analysis of the darkness. I help clients reclaim a free and joyful life with presence and passion. Being present for the full range of emotions can be a gift and a valuable guide in setting boundaries, building self-esteem and self-worth, and recovering from codependency, trauma, and anxiety. I help clients connect to their feelings in a supportive, collaborative environment. With genuine understanding and self-compassion, healing can be invigorating instead of terrifying.

My love of therapy is rooted in the opportunity to witness and facilitate change. Perhaps you already know what in your life you'd like to change. Perhaps you are simply aware that you're not where you would like to be. Or perhaps you've had an experience you'd like to understand and get some clarity around. Therapy is a powerful and important pathway to achieving change, improving insight, and living a happier, more fulfilling, meaningful life.

I often hear from my clients, “I wish I had started therapy sooner!” That doesn’t have to be you. Is therapy hard at times? Absolutely! It’s also an extremely rewarding personal growth opportunity that many define as “Life-Changing.” For over a decade, I’ve helped clients thrive personally & professionally as they learn to heal/manage: 1) Mental Health 2) Self-Confidence 3) Imposter Syndrome and 4) Relationships. Through experience gained in the US & abroad, I’ve developed a therapeutic style described as empowering, collaborative & interactive. I truly believe each client is HUMAN, & not their symptoms, life stressors, or illness.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
