This is where I come in! I love supporting people to break free of addiction, find relief from anxiety, depression, stress, manage life's transitions, improve self esteem , and experience healing in relationships.
Do you want to make a change but find yourself falling back into the same old patterns? Look no further! As a Licensed Addictions Counselor, I'm fascinated with how people change. Not just the quick fix, crash diet or band aid approach- but making the long term positive sustainable changes you have wanted! Whether it's procrastinating or alcoholism- we all have behaviors we wish to be different- but can find it very challenging to break these patterns that have become ingrained and reinforced over time. This is why so many of us stay in whats comfortable- even if it keeps us feeling stuck and miserable.

Hello! I’m so glad you’re here. I know it isn’t easy to look for a therapist, and it can even feel scary to take that beginning step of seeking therapy. Therapy is helpful for healing emotional and relational wounds, increasing self-awareness, building skills and resources, and increasing clarity when you are feeling stuck and things look hopeless. Therapy is also helpful when you just want to stretch yourself to grow beyond old patterns and what feels familiar but no longer brings you joy, or when the familiar is costing you too much. You are starting something courageous by choosing change, and you don't have to do it alone.

I work with those who are new to therapy or those who have found themselves stuck in previous therapies, or somewhere in between. I work to support those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, stress/burnout, life transitions, relationship issues, self esteem , or a lack of sense of self. Many of my clients have felt a sense of invalidation in their lives and currently struggle with reaching their goals or becoming their true potential selves. My experiences have allowed me to develop a therapeutic approach that is balanced between being validating and nurturing with being direct and challenging.

We go to therapy because we want to feel better. Dealing with anxiety and low self-esteem can feel like a package deal, and can make it hard to feel mentally healthy day-to-day. For many women, these symptoms may be associated with relationships, previous traumas, or negative body image. No matter what has happened to you, I believe it's possible to find healing, relaxation, and confidence. Finding a therapist you like can be hard, so please take your time to look around, ask plenty of questions, and reach out if you think we may be a good fit! To get to know more about me and my practice, please visit my website.

Interested in trying something different? Therapy can be much more than sitting in a dim office talking about your problems. Many people benefit from taking an active and nature-based approach to their therapy. I provide experiential counseling services, often incorporating activities like hiking, rock climbing, yoga, Tai Chi, and various mindfulness exercises. This approach is highly effective with individuals with depression, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, ADHD, impulse control issues, or other disorders related to inattentiveness, self-regulation, self-esteem, or stress management/response.

For me, the ideal client comes motivated and seeking change in their life. The focus is on the client and what they would like to change. It could be relationship issues communication, self-esteem/self-confidence, or a variety of other issues, as long as they are willing to change things. I think most clients may come in with a misunderstanding that we are responsible for their change, in actuality it is they who use the tools given. The client should be allowed to establish their own goals, big or small. The client is usually in a need of support, listening, and understanding. Change is powerful and up to the client.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
