He obtained his M.A. in Clinical Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University and a B.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies from Houston Christian University. Jerell has a little over 10 years of experience serving individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) in high-risk communities, youth and adolescents, and couples interested in strengthening the foundation of their relationship.

As a practicing clinician of over five years, I have honed my expertise in a range of therapeutic approaches including evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, and mindfulness-based interventions, as well as a trauma-informed care perspective. My overall approach to treatment integrates various therapeutic strategies to cater to the personal journey of each client and their unique reasons for seeking therapy. I treat a variety of disorders, including stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, interpersonal challenges, adjustment disorders, and other mental health issues.

Personal discovery and growth is one of life's greatest challenges but also provides one of life's greatest rewards. Through my own healing journey to address childhood trauma, I did many years traditional talk therapy. While I found this to be helpful, it wasn’t until I discovered somatic experiencing (SE) therapy that I began to experience a deep settling in my body and mind in a relatively short period of time. This settling of the nervous system can lead to a newfound sense of feeling present and engaged in life. One gains more capacity to experience positive emotions, tolerate negative emotions without becoming overwhelmed.
