This might look like mindfulness practices, CBT, breathwork, or a somatic approach when it makes sense and feels safe.
Difficult life transitions and troubling past traumas often result in symptoms of depression, anxiety, panic, and coping through substance abuse. I work with my clients to get these symptoms under control, cultivate more self-awareness, and develop more capacity for self-compassion. We’ll frame current stressors in the context of the larger systems they operate in, and evaluate your existing coping strategies to separate what's working for you from what's not. Together, we'll shine a light on patterns of thinking and behaviors that keep you feeling stuck.

My name is E. Penny Jacobo and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I believe many of our problems in life can be managed by changing our own thoughts and perspectives. We are usually more capable and powerful than we give ourselves credit for and I aim to help others find and use their own inner strength to solve their problems. I work with clients to identify cognitive distortions and change them. I also believe that taking the time to pause and be present at the moment is crucial to creating insight into our lives and our problems.

When I was age 18, I went into therapy with a wonderful woman. She help me gain direction for my life, helped improve my self-esteem. Gave me hope for the future I became a resilient person. Life continues to be fun despite the heartaches. I want to help others in this way. I use many therapeutic approaches based on the individuals I see. To name a few: Reality therapy, CBT, psychodynamic. I care about their safety, what is important to them. That they will not be judged. That there is hope for their lives to change in the ways, that they choose. That if they try new behaviors, they will feel better. Connect more with others.

I am extensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).
Are you ready for a positive change? Tired of doing the same thing and expecting different results? While we cannot change our past, or our genetic predispositions, we can learn to change the way we respond and react to our emotions and triggers; in order to give them less power and control in our lives. Learning about your unique experiences, needs and goals, and responding with caring and empathy, I will walk with you in exploring the barriers that you feel are hindering you, and provide therapeutic support, counseling and tools to help you acheive your goals.
