As a Jungian, I work with dreams but not having them will not impede your process.
We seek therapy because at some level we imagine that life could be better. We all suffer in different ways and suffering is universal, but it is precisely that suffering that leads us into a process of discovering how our deepest selves want to be expressed in the world and then to find the inner resources to live that out. In its truest sense, psychotherapy – which means “tending to the soul” – is not only concerned with alleviating symptoms, resolving issues, or adapting to life’s demands (though these are important), but ultimately with living lives that are more joyful, creative and free.

I specialize in working with individuals with a focus on Jungian Depth Psychotherapy. Patients in my practice often feel a sense of being lost, stuck feeling empty, and confused and are looking for something to unlock the keys to their difficulties. These can be challenging times with today’s fast pace, with a daily influx of information and rapid changes in technology that make it difficult for us to find the truth and our best interest sometimes. The difficulties may manifest in depression, anxiety, or other somatic symptoms.

Therapy is a collaborative process that can help us move through painful situations and challenging transitions, finding meaning even in darker places. As the poet May Sarton wrote, 'without darkness/nothing comes to birth/As without light/nothing flowers.' Constructing a safe and supportive container for healing allows us to explore patterns in a different light. In this renewed relational field, development and choices take root. Grounded in Somatics, an approach that builds awareness of links between mind and body, I am influenced by Jungian analytic psychology, psychodynamic, cognitive/behavioral, and family systems frameworks.

The core approaches I apply include depth psychology (Jungian), mindfulness, somatic awareness, imaginal attunement, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy.
The reasons leading each of us into therapy are as unique as we are individually, though it usually begins with something that brings challenge or suffering. Even amid the uniqueness of our difficulties, however, there are common patterns that unite us in our humanity. Whatever it is that calls you to therapy, I will meet you in the middle—where your common humanity and utter uniqueness come together. I deeply trust we can work together to bring greatest understanding to your process and support you not only in your healing, but also in the unfolding of your potential—indeed, the two go hand-in-hand.

I value depth, difference and relationship.

I love seeing folks at a turning point in their lives, who want to heal painful beliefs or repeating relational patterns, to find direction and self-love. With modalities of Gestalt awareness, Jungian imaginal discovery, Existential inquiry, psychoeducation and caring exploration, we dive into what wants to be seen. I see clients recover from dysfunctional family systems, addiction, and codependency. We heal past wounds and build self-support for increased choicefulness. I reference 12-step models, having over 20 years experience with them. I respect recovering individuals who often have readiness to do deep therapeutic work.

Jungian therapy works to locate an inner sense of alignment or guidance that can help you persevere in the face of life’s highs and lows, and direct you towards a life that’s more spontaneous, creative, embodied & engaged.
I offer therapy as a reliable space where you can slow down, really meet your inner world and learn to relate to what you discover there. Your symptoms have a story to tell. They can cause suffering when you don’t understand their language, or what they're asking you to find out about yourself. When given the attention they ask for, your emotions can reconnect you to your instincts and guide you in useful directions. Jungian therapy works to help you face inward towards your imagination, where you can begin to recover and revive what feels dormant, lost, unworthy, or just undiscovered.

I have a very relational approach informed by who I am and my training in Internal Family System (Parts Work) and Jungian Psychology.
Suffering can come in many forms. It is personal and distressing and can also be overwhelming, paralyzing, and lonely. But you do not have to face it alone. Many have come to me for help with what makes them unhappy and out of balance. I take satisfaction when my clients accept their own complexity and uniqueness and have successful outcomes in their lives due to therapy.

You are probably seeking therapy because something in your life is just not working. You might feel stuck, or that you are repeating familiar and unhealthy patterns in your close relationships, leading to frustration. I empathize with this frustration and work with you to more deeply understand yourself so that you can enact real and lasting change. My extensive psychodynamic and Jungian training support this type of work.

The psychodynamic/Jungian approach to therapy means we would discuss dreams, feelings, fantasies - your hopes for the future.
I offer psychotherapy, personality testing with feedback, and individual treatment of addictions. My approach to therapy is flexible but especially inspired by psychodynamic, Jungian and existential thought. Collaborative assessment means that together you and I would look at the results of tests and interviews to help answer questions you have about yourself, to get to know you more quickly and to focus the therapy. This kind of assessment can be a brief therapeutic intervention in itself. I also have a specialization in working with addictions, with motivational interviewing.

Psychotherapy can help when you are struggling with something specific, or when you are feeling concerned about where your life is going in general. There may be patterns that you tend to repeat and wish to change. Common concerns include relationships, work, anxiety, depression, grief, and childhood trauma. Depth therapy and Jungian psychoanalysis aim to go beyond immediate symptom relief to unblock your capacity to grow into who you are uniquely meant to be.

I draw from internal family systems, mindfulness, and somatic based , as well as Jungian and archetypal studies.
Within all of us lives an inner healing intelligence that is unique to each individual. Although sometimes internal or external barriers prevent us from connecting with this internal resource. As a therapist, I am committed to creating a safe container where you can get in touch with your own inner wisdom. I will be a collaborator with you on your journey of self-discovery and meaning making, to examine and explore these barriers and patterns that contribute to feelings of stuckness.

I am trained in Jungian Analytic Psychotherapy, and (for couples) Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
I am a psychotherapist with offices in SF and Oakland, where I treat both adults and couples. I take a relational and collaborative approach to psychotherapy. We are all unique, consciously and unconsciously influenced by the relationships and life-events that leave a lasting impact on how we address our current situation. Difficulties can sometimes arise when the habitual thoughts, emotions, or behaviors that once served us now have us feeling stuck, depressed, and powerless. Fear, ambivalence, compulsivity and patterned thinking can hamper our ability to address the inevitable twists and turns of daily life.

I draw primarily upon Jungian and depth psychology, which attends to the nature of psychological life by considering what's unknown to and about us, however such things appear.
You've likely read countless therapist bios and blurbs by now. Allow me to respect the issues pressing against your time by not advertising generic compassion. After all, it may be a problem of time leading you to this website. Maybe your relationships stay in the same conflict; perhaps life hurries you without direction. A vague sense of yourself may linger outside your grasp – is that person hinting for (or hiding from) your attention? I wonder why? Together in our work, we could attempt to hold the afflictions expressed through such stories with curiosity and care by inquiring into their necessities for the life you're living.

I am passionate about supporting people to quickly move through psychological blocks that create stress and stop the flow of creative, productive energy. I focus on facilitating freedom from anxiety and depression created by past experiences, opening the mind to what is present and possible, instead of old and no longer useful. I work extensively with the therapeutic technique known as EMDR, which is clinically proven to be an effective treatment for Anxiety/Depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I am an EMDRIA approved Consultant and a Trainer for the Trauma Recovery Humanitarian Assistance Program. www.emdrhap.org
