My primary orientation incorporates brainspotting, trauma-focused cbt, and talk therapy.
Are you longing to feel peace in your body again…or perhaps you’ve never felt peace. Life is messy and full of transitions. Sometimes these transitions are manageable, but often times they bring up hard feelings, thoughts, or reactions that we weren’t anticipating. Everyone struggles from time to time. Maybe you have experienced trauma in your lifetime and have never had the space to give it the proper narrative it deserves. My approach to counseling is collaborative as I see myself as a support person along your journey. My focus is on providing a secure space to develop a trusting, authentic therapeutic relationship.

Hello and welcome! My name is Jessica Millanponce and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I want to start by saying how honored I am that you took time to learn a little bit about me and my clinical care approach. It is my belief and experience that complex-relational trauma and attachment injuries show up in our lives and are the catalyst for symptoms that resemble anxiety, depression, dissociation, hyperactivity and various mood disorders. My approach to care is and has to be gentle, self-guided and compassionate as we explore the inner parts of Self that need attention, unburdening and healing.

I am a Brainspotting therapist, this is where together we utilize the brain-body connection to mindfully process and release emotions and feelings that are stored in the body and are contributing to chronic pain and feelings of disconnection.
Feeling burnt out? Having problems sleeping? Feeling disconnected from your friends and family? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to run away and leave it all behind? If you have ever felt that while you were juggling all the things, you have lost yourself as a person...therapy is where you can find hope. This is the place to sort through all the worry and stress and noise that is weighing you down. Just imagine being able to feel confident to live the life you want to live, and be able to show up for yourself in the best way possible. If this sounds like you, and what you want to achieve, let's talk!

Working with me can include EMDR, Brainspotting, IFS, Reiki, JFB Myofascial Release, and some Chek Institute principles.
As a person who has experienced multiple traumas both as a child and as an adult, I know that being on the path to healing is one of the bravest and hardest journeys we will take in this lifetime. On this journey of unlearning, learning, and becoming I have learned that we humans are integrated beings and therefore require an integrated approach to healing. Working with me will include attuning to our psychological bodies, emotional bodies, physical bodies, and energetic bodies. I have witnessed the miracle of our capacity to heal and I would be honored to guide you to your best healer: YOU.

Brainspotting Therapists

How does brainspotting work?

Brainspotting works by using eye positioning to identify and process traumatic memories so that a client is better able to move forward and live with less fear. The theory behind brainspotting is that by identifying where a person looks when thinking of traumatic memories, a therapist will be able to guide them to focus on that spot and work with the client to get them out of the “fight, flight, freeze” response associated with the traumatic memory.

Is brainspotting an evidence-based therapy?

Brainspotting is a theory-based alternative therapy. It is one of the newest forms of treatment, so very little research has been completed that examines the mechanism by which it works. The theory behind brainspotting is that eye position can be linked to areas of the brain that store and process memory.

How effective is brainspotting?

Because it is such a new treatment, the effectiveness of brainspotting cannot be quantified. Some people have found it to be effective on its own, or in conjunction with other types of therapy. It is considered an alternative therapy, and it is popular with people for whom more traditional therapies have proven ineffective.

How long does brainspotting take to work?

A typical brainspotting session will last between 60 to 90 minutes. There is no required number of sessions needed to complete brainspotting therapy, but in many cases it is delivered over the course of about six sessions. Clients are encouraged to rate their level of distress prior to a session and again following a session, and to track progress.
