I specialize in working with children, adolescents and their families who need support addressing suicidal ideation, behavioral issues, academic concerns, and a variety of other psychosocial needs.
I believe that the great thing about therapy is that people have room to grow, adults and children alike. I facilitate a therapeutic environment and a safe space for my clients to discuss both their struggles and their victories as they establish healthy boundaries while coping with life’s challenges. My counseling approach is guided by person-centered counseling. I focus on building rapport and establishing a therapeutic relationship with my clients while being original and authentic in my counseling process. Overall, utilizing empathy and unconditional positive regard to provide hope and support when it is needed most.

I provide therapy for Depression and Anxiety (including childhood onset); Adjustment Difficulties, Attachment/Bond Difficulties, Behavioral Issues in Children and Adolescents; Parenting Support; Grief Counseling, and Stress Management.
Adulting is hard. Being a kid is hard. Being human is hard. Having access to all of the world all of the time is hard. It’s overwhelming and everyone has an opinion. And sometimes it can just become too much. Every stage of life comes with what seems like insurmountable obstacles. This day and age with the seeming constant comparison to a perfect social media life can leave one feeling impossibly more than less than. Sometimes we just need a little help. A place to sit with our reality without the judgement or the press to have it all.

I serve clients from ages 5 through adulthood regardless of their race, nationality, religion, gender, disability or sexual orientation.

Often, “bad behavior” is just a child’s way of telling us they have an unmet need or don't have enough coping skills.
Limited spots available! Hi, I'm Noelle, I'm passionate about helping children, teens and adults be the best versions of themselves. I believe that all people have an innate tendency toward growth. However, growth can be impacted by life events we may not have control over. Noelle will work with you to explore any barriers and roadblocks that have come your way, while also helping you get to know yourself and your strengths. Noelle supports neurodiversity by providing individualized care. Not all brains work the same- and that’s okay, and even great! Noelle uses acceptance, validation and provides advocacy skills where needed.

I have extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), Child-Centered Play therapy, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
Children and adults have many stressors and concerns in their lives that may be difficult to talk about or share with close friends and family. Many having the fear of being judged hesitate sharing their true fears and anxieties and small children may not even have the words to properly describe what they are feeling. I provide a safe environment where people can come and talk about (through talk therapy, activity therapy, or play therapy) their experiences in their day to day lives and how it effects them. I further assist parents to build on their parenting skills and open the lines of communication.

Behavioral Issues Therapists

What happens in therapy for behavioral issues?

No matter the type of therapy, individuals form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is often therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Individuals learn to identify situations that are especially troublesome for them and acquire new patterns of thinking and behaving. In therapy for ADHD, one of the most common behavior issues for children, individuals learn how to improve frustration tolerance, control impulsivity, manage attentional focus, and gain skills of self-organisation.

What therapy types help with behavioral issues?

Many types of therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Perhaps best-known and most widely tested is cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT), in which individuals learn new behavioral strategies and curb reactivity to frustrating or distressing situations that trigger disruptive behaviour. Anger, anxiety, mood disorders, impulse control problems are commonly addressed in CBT. Family therapy or parent management training is often helpful to reduce parent-child conflict and behavioral difficulties at home.

How long does therapy last for behavioral issues?

Among popular approaches to treating behavioral concerns, CBT is considered a short-term therapy intended to be administered in 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Parent training in behavior management, often used when the underlying cause of behavior issues is ADHD in children under 12, usually occurs in weekly sessions for 8 to 16 weeks. When behavioral issues stem from persistent aggression or defiance, therapy may last for months, and usually targets both children and their parents.

How effective is therapy for behavior issues?

Studies show that therapy for behavior issues in children is highly effective and may prevent the development of antisocial behavior later in life. Family intervention—parent management training or family therapy, both of which involve parents and children together—is considered most effective, notably for children under age 12 who persistently engage in aggressive, defiant, rule-breaking or other disruptive behavior. Whether provided alone or in combination with medication, CBT is highly effective in helping people regulate their emotions, and for people with ADHD, it addresses impulsiveness, hyperactivity and attentional focus.
