What makes my practice unique is my personal and professional background in disabilities that goes back 52 years in Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, hearing and vision impairments and cerebral palsy. While I am 64, I have worked with families and children for the last ten years in the Southwest and Baltimore helping to meet their multitude of needs for intervention and education. In addition, I have 33 years of sobriety and am experienced working with people with substance abuse issues.

Life is messy, and sometimes, so are we. When it becomes overwhelming, we often forget our own strengths and solutions that we've relied on before. Engaging in therapy services can be challenging, as there is such a stigma in asking for help. I offer a warm and non-judgmental approach, with a side of humor if needed. I have worked in multiple settings, including acute psychiatric care, hospitals, schools, and in clinics. I want to continue to help those who want to improve their quality of life in the way they live, think, relate, or connect to others, and how they demonstrate their authentic selves.

I have experience treating a wide variety of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, mood disorders and PTSD. My style in the therapy office is energetic, warm, and non-judgmental.

I chose to become a therapist after doing social work with children and families. Witnessing the trauma and the way that trauma impacted those individual lives caused me to develop an interest in and concern for individuals struggling with CPTSD, PTSD and childhood trauma. I have always enjoyed listening to people's stories and making a genuine connection. I believe in the healing power of therapy and the importance of the therapeutic relationship. I believe in the importance of active listening and making you feel truly heard, cared about, safe, and understood. The majority of my experience is as a child and family therapist.

Are you overwhelmed and reacting poorly to the difficult things happening in your life? It is so hard when you want to be helpful and supportive of your friends and family but at the end of the day you have nothing left to give to anyone else. You go to bed with plans to cross things off of your to-do list and a commitment to being a kinder person tomorrow. Then four hours later you are still awake and frustrated because your brain will not shut off. No matter what you do this cycle repeats itself and you fall more behind everyday and feel disconnected. Feeling energized, content, and connected is achievable.

I have over thirty years of experience, dealing with helping people change and grow. My wish is that we can collaborate together, and that I help you reach your most authentic self. I'm not your typical therapist. I won't offer advice, and I will never tell you how to live your life because it's yours and yours only. I see limited value in endlessly revisiting our problems and retelling our stories over and over. Instead, I facilitate deep, soulful, heart centered work. Using a framework of developmental trauma, I specialize in both Shadow Work and Neuro-Affective Relational Model (NARM). We offer Individual, couples and Group Therapy. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a structured therapy that focuses on teaching four core skills (mindfulness, acceptance & distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness) to help you create a good life for yourself. You work on substance use with both adolescents with mental health issues and substance use in recovery as well as unhealthy coping mechanisms.
