Accepting new clients for telehealth! I offer relational, affirming, & approachable therapy for teens and young adults (14-24ish) that helps navigate the often turbulent times of adolescence & emerging adulthood. I work with young people so that they can feel less alone and more connected to a greater understanding of themselves, their joy, and how to move through hardship. As a therapist, my goal is to create a warm, open, and non-judgmental space where you can feel more understood, connected, and supported. I believe that healing happens within trusting relationships and that we shouldn’t have to go through difficulty alone.

I approach therapy using psychodynamic and feminist lenses. I believe that therapy is most effective and meaningful when done collaboratively and hope to work together to understand how your past relationships and experiences shape who you are today. In particular, I wish to explore how your past influences your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors - all within your sociopolitical context. I tend to be the best fit for those looking to challenge themselves and be challenged in therapy.

Hello, I am a licensed clinical psychologist in MA & OR. Before becoming a psychologist, I worked as a public interest attorney, and as a psychologist, I see the importance of being mindful of social context in the therapy room. I specialize in psychodynamic psychotherapy -an evidence-based treatment- to illuminate how the past and present, external and internal, mutually influence one another. I also integrate tools from other therapy modalities to support the unique needs of each individual.

Accepting New Clients! When you feel overwhelmed and frustrated, it's like trying to keep your head above the water. Life can get busy, basic every day tasks become difficult, relationships get strained, and the wear and tear of your different roles becomes harder to juggle. Our big feelings can make it feel impossible to get ahead of ourselves. There may be times when we feel so lonely, even in a crowded room. Sometimes we get stuck and we don't know where, or who, to turn to. Sound familiar?

I tend to see individuals who achieve success in school and in their careers, but retain a chronic and deep-seated feeling that something is missing. Often, these individuals have gotten by on exceptional logic with little sense that there can be more to their existence. They may be more comfortable doing as opposed to being, thinking as opposed to feeling, and helping as opposed to being helped. High standards commonly include high pressure to self-contain, which can cause immense, private suffering. I aim to provide these individuals with a fuller and more compassionate experience of themselves.

Would you like to free yourself from patterns that lead to stress, conflict, and/or withdrawal from life? Are you feeling reactive or shut down in dealing with anger, fear, and/or sadness? Are you dissatisfied with life and do not know why? Having the courage to admit that things are not going well is the first step to changing them. My mindfulness-based approach supports you in being less identified with habitual ways of thinking and feeling that can keep you stuck in patterns that no longer work. I have helped many clients learn to be less reactive and more compassionate with themselves and others. My groups (classes) have space.

Asian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

A culturally sensitive therapist would be respectful and considerate of different groups, with regard to race, sexual orientation, gender, and other factors that are important to an individual. These considerations can help a client feel understood as well as validated. While some people think highlighting race could promote stereotypes and bias, more understanding and knowledge about cultural differences is a positive for a healthy therapeutic alliance.

How can I recognize an effective Asian therapist?

You can discern a lot by asking how familiar the potential therapist is with different cultures, as well as asking how they might address issues related to identity, values, and beliefs. Also inquire about their education, as well as any particular training they may have completed, such as cultural sensitivity or diversity and inclusion programs.

What if the therapist does not have my exact background?

The therapist may not share a client’s exact background, but the therapist may have plenty of hands-on experience as well as the sensitivity needed for therapeutic progress. Their sensitivity to different populations will help the client feel accepted and comfortable in sharing their concerns and difficulties.

How might I inquire about a therapist's experience with Asian clients?

A therapist with an Asian background may have experience within their community, as well as broader cultural sensitivity. Ask the potential therapist whether they've worked with individuals who share your background. If they have not worked with similar clients, they may well know someone who has such experience.

Who is included in Psychology Today's directory of Asian therapists?

The directory of Asian therapists includes professionals who have shared their ethnicity in their profiles. Psychology Today uses this information to assist clients in finding a therapist who can provide a cultural match. However, not all therapists choose to disclose their ethnicity in their profiles, and they may not appear in search results for this reason; also, when the number of therapists identified as Asian is limited, the directory will also show therapists with comprehensive experience working with clients from relevant backgrounds.
