As a relational therapist, I believe in the power of connection to help people grow and heal. I work with individuals and couples who feel stuck in the same old loops, whether that’s in their relationships, their self-talk, or how they move through the world. Maybe you’re feeling disconnected, carrying old hurts, or tired of trying to be who everyone else thinks you should be. Together, we’ll explore your emotions, navigate barriers, and uncover new ways of showing up that feel authentic and true to you.

The world is a beautiful and complex place, and sometimes we need help navigating through the nuance. My goal as a counselor is to provide a safe and supportive space to my clients where they can explore their experiences while I offer warmth, compassion, empathy, and perhaps a touch of humor.

My style in working with clients is positive and direct. I believe wholeheartedly in the possibility of change, and that the deepest, most powerful change starts on the inside. As our core beliefs, patterns and awareness shifts, life on the outside begins to reflect those internal changes, resulting in greater satisfaction and meaning. My approach involves working in partnership with clients, using the counseling relationship as a catalist on the journey to healing and growth, both individually and in relationships.

My intention for you is to gently but dynamically create opportunities for growth and healing through flexible and creative alternatives to break through old patterns. I like to collaborate with motivated clients who are willing to work to change their lives. My goal is to help you discover your own solutions to your problems and concerns in an environment that is welcoming, empathetic and non-judgmental. I do that by carefully attending to your thoughts and feelings. Although I will offer specific "interventions" I believe that change occurs during therapy when there is strong motivation combined with the quality of our connection.

Some seasons of life can feel overwhelming and push you off balance. We are all taking on the world for the first time, so it’s natural to feel adrift, and even question your path when things begin to feel out of control or uncertain. Acknowledging and verbalizing these things that may feel off-limits or “too deep” elsewhere can help us make sense of our lived experiences and emotions, as well as find meaning in the life we are constructing for ourselves.

When life gets challenging, we experience a range of emotions from overwhelmed and endless worries to deep sadness. At times like these, it gets harder to find the space to pause and stay connected with what truly matters in our lives. Our visions and perspectives can also get too blurry to even know what forward looks like. My approach is to offer a calm, safe, and compassionate space to stay centered through the various storms of life and the emotions they bring. Using evidence-based practices and years of experience, I walk with you during these storms to stay grounded in what matters while moving forward in life.

I delight in supporting kids, teens, adults, and couples who have overlapping and different identities and experiences from me. I believe that growth and healing happen when you are seen, supported, and cared for no matter how you feel or what is happening in your life. I love listening to you and helping you hear your own wisdom about the challenges you’re facing. Sometimes it’s helpful to hear me reframe the way you’re thinking that may come from being too hard on yourself. I can help you develop confidence in your ability to ride the waves of emotion that can be overwhelming. We can do art or go for walks outside while we work.

Trust issues, religious/childhood trauma, neurodivergence, anxiety, grief, shame, strained relationships, and career issues are my specialties. If you struggle with any of these, you know how frustrating and confusing it can be. You're worried about getting in touch with your feelings because they feel overwhelming. You want to behave differently, but keep repeating the same patterns. Your coping mechanisms helped you survive in the past, and might even be keeping you safe now, but you want to move from surviving to thriving. Asking for help is hard, but the do-it-yourself "get over it" mentality hasn't been working.

Sometimes, we want to make changes but struggle with unknown parts of ourselves that seem to stop us. Habits, life long patterns and unconscious beliefs can hold us back from living the life that we long for. It takes time and courage to examine our belief system and reach out for what we really want. As a therapist, I follow the process of each individual. Clients are viewed on a spectrum of health, rather than through a lens of pathology. This approach creates a very curious and creative focus that encourages growth at the client’s own pace.

You may feel overwhelmed, stuck in patterns that don’t seem to change, or wondering why certain situations or relationships affect you so strongly. You might be navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, or a life transition that has brought a lot to the surface. You may also be curious about how your earlier life experiences are shaping how you feel today. Together, we’ll slow things down, pay attention to the patterns that helped you get through hard things, and begin to understand them with more compassion so you can move toward a different kind of connection with yourself and others.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
