As an Art Therapist, I work to integrate art making with talk therapy because I believe art can speak where words often fail.
Let’s be real: being a person is hard. That’s an easy enough fact to acknowledge, but the truly difficult p art is deciding when and where to put your vulnerabilities on display. While committing to the therapeutic process can feel unpredictable and is not without its messy bits, taking a step towards prioritizing yourself and your wellbeing is an act of incredible courage.

Art therapy is not just for artists, and doesn't require that you have any prior experience making art.
I am pro-you in whatever way you show up–your gender identity, sexual orientation, justice system involvement, relationship style, body size and physical ability, race and ethnicity, and unique way of experiencing and interacting with the world are welcome and celebrated here! I am affirming of neurodiversity and dissociative identities, and I believe that you are the expert on yourself and your experiences. I love working with the LGBTQIA+ community, neurodivergent folks, dissociative systems, and people who have experienced trauma.

Please call or email today for an appointment if you want to st art or continue your journey to wellness with me.
Have you been struggling with trying to figure out a better way to manage your life and situations? Do you find it hard to have motivation to do things? Do you struggle with adversity and managing stressors? Do you have issues with addictions? I try to be non-judgmental and supportive to validate people and help them learn new ways of coping and living to improve their quality of life. I also run Art Therapy groups to increase insight and mindfulness about symptoms/coping skills, which have been effective in improving moods and decreasing stress, creating a sense of community, and a family away from family (but not during COVID).

I use expressive therapeutic tools most often ( art, play, movement) and let the child lead.
Anxiety is everywhere these days. We're all making our way through a sea of unknowns, and our children are along for the ride. I believe that YOU, a parent or caregiver, have been doing the very best that you can for your child. I also know that with limited resources, a lack of external support or your own mental health strain, supporting a struggling child often feels impossible. If you’ve exhausted a list of ideas to help your child with little progress, let me join you. Together we can redistribute that emotional weight you’re carrying and give your child a big wide space to heal and grow.

I love combining my passions for art and psychology.
Participating in therapy can help individuals to be healthier, happier and improve their overall quality of life. The therapeutic setting is a great place to explore the connection between thoughts/feelings/behaviors, identify triggers/patterns, develop new coping skills, learn to improve interpersonal relationships, process trauma and loss, and increase self-awareness in order to become the very best version of one’s self. As an LPC and art therapist, I use an eclectic approach to therapy aimed at trying to align clients with interventions that fit best for them as individuals.

As a Board-Certified Art Therapist, the art-making process can help us explore and illustrate your unique story.
One of the bravest things you can do is to take a deep dive into understanding your story. Your story may be filled with emotional turmoil, trauma, and overwhelming anxiety on how you’ll be able to pull through to the other side. Take a deep breath, relax, and let’s rewrite your story together. I invite you to talk about the taboo things (no topic is off limits), become comfortable in your own skin, and take the journey with me through self-exploration to finally arrive at your authentic self.

Art Therapy may sound strange or intimidating but it's for those who are interested in trying a different approach to treating their mental health.
I am a Registered Art Therapist specializing in treating anxiety disorders and depression. I offer Art Therapy, traditional talk therapy, or a blend of the two tailored to fit your needs. My clients often are not "artists" but rather individuals with a willingness to explore, create, and challenge their comfort zones.

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
