You will learn to differentiate between sensations and emotions, necessary to recover from trauma, reduce symptoms of depression and alleviate anxiety.
Interested in exploring Body Psychotherapy? Somatic interventions can make a difference. Contemporary neuroscience shows how all aspects of our awareness are linked with our physiology and biology. I provide interventions which directly impact these systems, and how you feel and behave. This enhances your capacity for genuine connection with others, and allows you to make Inherently satisfying choices about how you live your life.

I specialize in affirming care for men and LGBTQ folks, and treat grief and loss, anxiety and panic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), major life transitions and supporting survivors of trauma.
I see many clients who feel stuck and unable to alter their life in a way that reflects their values, causing them to feel sad, on edge, or numb. They are suffering a great deal, and often their needs seem unclear. I use a frank and kind style to empower clients to find meaning and hope as they navigate the complicated, often oppressive systems of our world. This process is one of uncovering patterns—which may feel difficult to articulate at the beginning—restricting clients from fully experiencing life. Once their needs and goals become clear, I help them build and sustain a more flexible and expansive way of living and connecting.

Are you a busy professional struggling with burnout or other life challenges such as job stress, anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem? Is the demand of your busy schedule taking a hard-hitting toll on your performance, emotional wellbeing, and personal relationships? For most professionals, the path to success is riddled with chronic stress. This can create emotional burnout, zap energy, kill motivation, impair sleep and cognitive performance, increase isolation, skyrocket anxiety, raise self-doubt, wreck physical health, and make self-care habits seem impossible. But most professionals will never admit this-because they can't.

The reasons why people choose to go to therapy are numerous. From recent life stressors to long-term struggles with addiction, anxiety or depression, therapy can be a way to increase adaptability, happiness, coping, and overall quality of life. For some, therapy is about treating an identified problem, while others focus on personal growth and general well-being. Either way, therapy can be an important catalyst for positive change.

I work well with individuals, couples, and families to find resolve from issues of depression and anxiety, identity and expression, sexuality, mono/poly relationship difficulties, isolation, loneliness, and low self-esteem.
The fact is that everyone at some point in their lives, will face challenges, traumas, circumstances or relationships that overwhelm their ability to cope. While navigating these experiences can be painful, difficult, and complex- no one should have to go at it alone. I view the therapeutic experience as collaborative. My intention is to create a safe, supportive, and judgement free space where together we'll explore what brings meaning into your life, and dismantle the obstacles that get in your way. My role is to bolster skills that encourage meaningful reflection, communication, and connection to self and others.

I offer an open, non-judgemental space where you can speak honestly about your thoughts and experiences while working towards your personal goals. As a queer, trauma-informed sex therapist, I enjoy working together to deconstruct the social scripts, pressures and ‘shoulds’ that often get in the way of our growth, healing and liberation. Some areas that I am especially passionate about working with are anxiety, self-esteem, life transitions, gender identity, sexuality, relationship dynamics, existential questioning, sexual trauma and chronic pain.

I understand that life can feel overwhelming at moments and that it is common to feel stuck, lost, or defeated. My priority in the therapy process is to help you feel better, change unhelpful patterns or behaviors, and to help you create new ways of navigating stress, anxiety, and relationships. To facilitate this process, I combine my professional knowledge and experience for treating anxiety, chronic worry, depression, and relationship issues, with empirically supported treatments that work, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapy.

THERE IS A BETTER WAY... Are you living with anxiety, depression, fear, guilt, or shame? Do you feel hopeless at times? You've probably heard "pain is unavoidable, but suffering is optional." We suffer because our mind makes up a story about the painful emotion and keeps it going rather than letting it pass. Through a combination of traditional psychotherapy and hypnosis, I can help you become aware of what's not working, and together, we can create new habits and ways to deal with pain and experience relief. Are you ready to feel more comfortable, secure, loved, and accepted?

My specialties include treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress-management.
Sometimes you need a perspective outside of your own circle to help you recognize patterns that could be holding you back. Most people are doing the best they can with what they’ve got but we all need a little push at times to get where we need to go. I’m here to give you that push. As our lives continue to unfold during these challenging times I’m available to provide you with a collaborative and judgment-free zone that sets aside the time and space you need to be able to heal and grow. I’m a warm, spirited, and patient therapist whose goal is to enable people to find more balance and joy in their lives.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
