I enjoy helping clients to actualize their potential, find their voice, and manage their symptoms. I am a big believer in the intricate mind-body connection and cultivating more global wellness rather than just targeting specific symptoms. I love working with adolescents and adults, people who are looking for forward movement in life, a change of emotional scenery. Issues I specialize in include trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, identity, pain/health management and more.

I help neurodivergent adults, those exploring LGBTQIA+ identities, and trauma survivors to conquer their shame, depression, and anxiety so they can enjoy fulfilling relationships. As a neurodivergent adult with ADHD, autism, or both, you might experience feelings of shame around your identity, even feeling that you have to put on a mask for the world. Or you might be wondering about LGBTQIA+ identities, exploring polyamory, or kink-curious, but feel afraid of judgment. You may feel that having needs or wants of your own are not nearly as important as what others want or need.

I have experience treating anxiety, depression, grief/loss, eating disorders, family and interpersonal conflict.
I work with individuals, couples and families to create meaningful & fulfilling relationships, improve connections, address conflict, and increase effective communication patterns. Therapy is an opportunity to learn about yourself and others. During session we will explore past and present experiences to gather information about your strengths, resiliency, and challenges. I offer a direct, creative and compassionate approach and nonjudgemental space to do some difficult, and at times, uncomfortable work. Integrating creativity allows us the chance to be playful as you try on new ways of doing things and have some fun with the process of getting to know a truer you.

I aspire to create a safe place where they may explore the many facets of their lives, resolve problems, answer questions, face their fears, and build sustaining connections that will help to carry them throughout their lives and whatever challenges they may face.
I believe counseling is a journey. It is useful throughout life, not only resolving mental health concerns; but as a means of discovery and building on personal relationships, clarifying goals and strengthening each person's own unique attributes. It is about building connections. Connections come in many forms; connecting with ourselves, our families, our communities but also connecting past, present, and future.

I specialize in working with relationship issues, gender and sexuality concerns, anxiety, depression, identity development, academic/career related distress, and eating and body image concerns.
I strive to create a warm and trusting relationship with my clients as a base from which to explore their emotions, thought processes, and relationships that are contributing to their current distress. I then act as a guide in helping clients move toward the change they want to see in their lives. My approach to therapy is relational, integrative, and collaborative. I weave mindfulness and self-compassion into explorations of past and current relationships and the building of new coping skills to help clients better manage their current difficulties and change underlying patterns.

Let's be real, living in the world we live in is a challenge right now. Constant changes and stressors, most out of our control. Generational gaps causing rifts in families, work, and online. Navigating our world is difficult, yet you don't have to carry that weight alone. Maybe it's time to face the past so you can learn how to manage the future. Or do you want to better yourself and don't know where to start? Perhaps you're facing big changes in relationships or at work that are overwhelming. Whatever the challenges, let's face them together.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
