Through a collaborative therapeutic relationship, I’ll help you manage stress and anxiety and help you connect with your innate capabilities.
You try to sleep, but your thoughts spin through a million anxious interactions from your day. You ruminate over horrible scenarios, real and imagined, with a sense of doom hanging over your head. You find yourself scrolling on your phone, losing time, and not feeling any better, and often times, even worse. You look at the clock and already dread the next day, knowing you’ll be starting off completely exhausted. You pummel yourself with criticism and wonder why life seems so much harder for you than everyone else. If your life sounds something like this, let's talk.

I am a Christian therapist mainly working with young women struggling with anxiety, relational stressors, body image issues, and disordered eating.
Are you tired of the constant thoughts racing through your head? Thoughts of daily responsibilities, relationship stressors, navigating life transitions, body image insecurities and food, and general anxieties. Maybe you feel okay for the most part, but you have a loved one in your life who struggles with a mental illness and you need someone to talk to about the rollercoaster you experience. You have some people in your life that you can talk to sometimes, but that only gives some temporary relief. Therapy is the perfect place to show up as you are and learn some skills to feel more balance in your life.

I specialize in treating the effects of trauma, though I also have comprehensive training and experience working with a number of other mood and anxiety disorders.
Life experiences and circumstances shape us. They impact the way we see and relate to ourselves, others and the world in general. This impact, however, is not always positive or helpful. In fact, sometimes it leads to some pretty significant suffering. Do you criticize yourself for the choices you made, or didn’t make in the past, and feel a sense of guilt or shame as a result? Have you become so distrustful or angry, that you find yourself in constant fear, or conflict with those that you love the most? Do you believe that things will never change, and that you are doomed to feel pain forever? I can help you.

Anxiety and depression keep us from finding joy in the big and small moments of our lives. Often, we are our own worst enemy. If we can rein in our thoughts and see accurately what we are capable of, then we can move towards realizing our potential. Additionally, grief is not well understood in our culture. Finding someone who can sit with you in it is challenging. We often put unhealthy expectations on ourselves to “get over it” or “move on.” Secondary losses add extra weight until it feels unbearable. And yet the path to healing requires the brave decision to walk through the darkness of grief.

I enjoy working with individuals who want to be more present, build more mental bandwidth, and spend less time worrying.
I guide clients in discovering and identifying the root causes of some of their worries and distress. When we work on addressing the source of the current and past issues, we are able to make positive changes in our lives and develop strategies together. My approach is to adapt to your unique needs. We don’t always have control of how we got where we are, but we can work together to take control of our lives. My goal is to help you discover your most true and wise self.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
