By using an integrative medicine approach and functional medicine lens, I work to identify and address the underlying causes of chronic stress, anxiety, depression, and burnout rather than treating symptoms.
Chronic Stress. Anxiety. Depression. Burnout. These aren't just words for me. They're experiences I've lived through. Now, I am dedicated to supporting others as they navigate these same challenges and emerge stronger. Recognizing that healing is multifaceted, I believe in whole-person health optimization by choosing integrative medicine as an opportunity heal — physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Drawing from my own experiences of overcoming stagnation, I support others to reclaim their light & zeal for life — allowing you to return to a place of wholeness.

If you are struggling in life with these issues, you are not alone. Life can be difficult and many people have felt the way you do. Individuals often feel that something needs to be seriously wrong with them in order to seek therapy. Nothing could be further from the truth. I'm so glad you found me! I love working with adults concerning anxiety, depression and trauma. Anxiety isn't just fear or nervousness. Anxiety happens when we aren't willing to process difficult emotions. Anxiety can present itself through anger/projection, isolation, busy-ness, and being unusually overwhelmed. As I operate within the Bowen Family Systems theory, a safe space is created that promotes the ability to process these undesired emotions lending the ability to promote emotional resiliency, maturity and balance! I also thoroughly enjoy couples counseling with an emphasis on conflict resolution and affair/betrayal recovery.

Life is hard. Sometimes life is harder than what we’re equipped for. When that happens, seeking help can be daunting, and finding a therapist who’s a good fit even harder. While I can’t magically make everything better or brighter, I will sit in and walk through the darkness with you until we make it to the light. I have experience working with individuals who are dealing with trauma, depression, self-harm, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, and identity crisis. My areas of particular focus are sexual trauma, emotional abuse, suicidal ideation, self-harm, attachment issues, depression, PTSD, and those dark night-of-the-soul times.

The relationship between client and therapist is like no other. A client should be able to freely express themselves with no concerns about how it might effect the therapist, unlike with family or friends. I work with adults to overcome depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, stress, shame and trauma. A special interest is working with people who have experienced trauma, whether from long ago childhood abuse and neglect or from other life events, encouraging them to recognize and release long standing painful emotions and ineffective patterns of behavior.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
