My training as a couples, marriage and family therapist leads me to view client functioning in terms of relationships. My goal is to help clients bring forth a self that feels true and real. I help clients learn to ask for and receive what they need from others, embracing life and life's challenges with courage, renewed spirit, and a sense of wholeness. When clients feel supported, validated, and understood they often find that symptoms of depression and anxiety are relieved. Working with me, clients will learn to access their inner resources as we generate solutions together.

You may have experienced disturbing and painful events in your life that make it difficult to move forward, release your true potential and reach your life goals. You may often feel unsafe and untrusting in your own body, mind, or environment with frequent worry, stress and emotional pain that impacts your relationships, sense of self-worth and overall functioning in important areas of your life. The good news is that the human mind and body can have a remarkable capacity to heal given the right conditions. The possibility of improving our lives is a real one that begins with the choice to take a step forward.

As human beings, pain and challenges are all integral parts of our lives, but it does not mean that we have to suffer because of those - we can learn to be peaceful, and handle challenges effectively and efficiently. My goal in therapy is to meet people where they are in their lives without any prejudice, understand their situation and needs, offer them the needed support, comfort, and resources, teach them the needed skills to cope with distress, help them heal from their emotional wounds, and bring peace and optimism into their lives. I specialize in providing individual as well as couples therapy for teens and adults.

I am also able to administer various personality tests, IQ tests, anger management assessments, etc.
(Please note that I am currently located in Illinois and can only offer video or phone sessions). It was Irvin Yalom who said something to the effect that "psychotherapy is like a dress rehearsal for life". With this said, it is my intention to not only offer you support in therapy but to also help you generalize the skills you learn in therapy and apply them in your outside life and relationships. I specialize in anger and anxiety management for adults and adolescents. I also work with highly intelligent adults and teens who have a difficult time adjusting and adapting socially and work with high functioning autistic individuals.

I enjoy working with people with anger issues so I can help them work through their unspoken feelings in a safe, nurturing environment and to learn to express themselves from the heart.
I have been practicing in Oregon since 1985. I am very open, honest and interactive. I enjoy what I do and to see clients being empowered to make a difference for themselves in their lives, is my reward. I am bilingual and speak Farsi. I have worked with individuals, couples, families and teenagers of all cultures. Being culturally different has given me a more of a perspective to allow more understanding and compassion in helping others.

Anger Management.
My ideal client is the person who is stuck in uncertainty, and struggling to find clarity in their identity or there role in life. My expertise as an experienced counselor & coach is in partnering for creating the perfect outcome or vision/goals. Often the roadblocks are related to fear, low self-confidence, lack of effective communication development, or adequate emotional expression. Included are anger management and relational issues. I focus on the whole individual for healthy healing and maturity. As self-growth expands a high level of achievement and success is the by-product both personally as well as professionally.

Specifically, depression, anxiety, anger, eating disorders, and impulsive behavior (self harm, substance use, suicidal behaviors).
I firmly believe that growth has two paths. To truly flourish, one must balance a desire for change with a true willingness to accept oneselve for who you are. A treatment that embraces this idea is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and it's the core philosophy I use with my patients every day. In treatment, DBT concepts focus on changing things that are getting in the way of living the life you want, while accepting yourself unconditionally. The focus is to develop a life worth living. My program offers a full finality DBT which includes individual therapy, group skills training, and phone consultation.

Are you feeling discouraged? Are you at a point which you feel your hope may be GONE! For example, are you a young adult who has lost hope in finding a soulmate? Are you a couple who is on the edge of getting a divorce? Are you a parent who can’t see hope in your child with health issues? There are many different circumstances that cause us to feel hopeless. Unfortunately, depression, anxiety and even anger often come alongside with a sense of hopelessness. My passion is to help you find hope through compassionate counseling.

As a licensed psychologist I am able to help people who are struggling with a variety of health concerns, including chronic pain, trauma/PTSD, persistent complex bereavement (impairing grief lasting more than one year), anxiety, depression, anger, and relationship issues.
Your pain is a key that can unlock the door to a better life. As a psychologist, I work to help you turn that key- to help open yourself to the compassion, enjoyment, and fulfillment that are waiting for you. I can help you through life's problems using evidence based therapy, meaning we will practice techniques that science has shown work when people commit to the process. I use a form of cognitive behavioral therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which has been shown by research to be effective not only in reducing suffering but also in increasing life satisfaction.

I have experience with complex trauma and substance abuse as well as anger management and suicide prevention.
Therapy can be hard, and I want to make it as safe and approachable as possible. We all have the potential to be our best selves, and I'm passionate about supporting people through the process of figuring out what that means for them. I treat the person who sits in front of me, whatever they come with - depression, anxiety, a history of trauma, illness, complex family and personal histories. I believe that self compassion and relationship are the key components for any therapeutic relationship.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
