Anxious? Depressed? Overwhelmed? Stuck? Life is difficult. We all suffer. But you do not have to walk this path alone. I am so glad you are taking this courageous step! I want to offer you the right support where you can be seen, heard, and understood. Are you tired of waking up dreading the day or thinking there must be more to life than this? Does your mind swirl with negative self-depreciating thoughts or does your anxiety spiral out of control? Maybe you wake up feeling like a black cloud is hanging over your life? Do you have trauma that is disrupting your life and relationships? Do you have the same fights with your partner?

Most people muddle their way through life doing the best they can with the limited information and tools they grew up with. How might life be different if a person took the initiative to understand what they want out of life and relationships, and then develop the healthy habits and tools they need to cultivate that life? It is never too late to change your trajectory by deliberately curating healthy life habits and genuine, well-connected relationships. Imagine growing something healthy and productive out of the ashes of trauma, or cultivating genuine relational connection out of conflict and loneliness.

As a Queer person with ADHD, I want to help neurodivergent people feel more comfortable navigating nuances around sex, sexuality, gender, and relational dynamics. I also have a passion for fostering healthy conversation where partners can safely express their needs, desires, fears, and pain. I want to guide people toward secure attachment so that they feel worthy of love and capable of advocating for their experiences. I strive to reduce shame and reinstate curiosity so that we can have a more mindful connection with ourselves, our bodies, and others. I find reward in working with trauma and its impact on sex and quality of life.

I think that each client is different, and that no one size fits all. I think it's important for a client and therapist to work toward the goals that are most important to the client.

Life is an adventure, but the road can be tough. We have trouble seeing our way through dark clouds to the light. We struggle to put one step forward when the mountain peak seems so high. We need a compass to point us north & a map to guide us to our destination. You are the expert carving your own trail, but my role, goal, & honor is to walk beside you to remind you how far you’ve come, highlight strengths to navigate the path ahead, find resources to lighten your load, empower goals to move from surviving to thriving, & recognize meaning in every moment & joy in the journey, because the best views come after the hardest climb.

As a therapist, my hope is to provide a safe space where you are able to be vulnerable without the fear of judgment. I come from a person-centered lens with an understanding of the impact adverse life events have on our overall well-being. Being able to gain a sense of internal safety, while gaining the confidence to know you are able to manage uncomfortable feelings in an adaptive manner not only reduces trauma responses but also boosts efficacy around who you are as a person.

Adlerian Therapists

How does Adlerian psychology work?

In the framework of Adlerian therapy, people are motivated by a sense of belonging and community, which drives them to surmount feelings of inferiority so as to contribute to their society; fulfilling these desires can help people flourish. Adlerian therapy proceeds in four stages—engagement, assessment, insight, and reorientation—in an overall effort to understand the client’s past and to achieve their present-day humanistic goals.

Is Adlerian therapy humanistic?

Yes, Adlerian psychology is humanistic; it focuses on the whole person, emphasizes their strengths rather than just their symptoms, and centers them in determining how they can grow and flourish. This school of thought informed the work of Abraham Maslow, who went on to develop humanistic psychology.

How long does Adlerian therapy take?

Adlerian therapy is a short-term, goal-oriented form of therapy that takes around 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Of course, some people may be in therapy for a shorter or longer time frame; length depends on the individual and the problem or condition they wish to treat. Clients can ask their therapist about the timeline for treatment before they begin and check in periodically to ensure that they’re on the same page in terms of progress.

Is Adlerian therapy evidence based?

There is not as much evidence to support the effectiveness of Adlerian therapy as there is for other types of therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. But Adlerian therapy may be the right therapy for some people—whether they’re seeking to treat mental disorders or achieve self-growth—especially those looking for a holistic approach that emphasizes relationships, community, self-worth, and purpose.
