Specializations include depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, ADHD, grief counseling, developmental disabilities and career change.
You, or perhaps someone close to you, may have been struggling with a problem for some time and now have made the decision to seek professional assistance. This step comes neither easily nor comfortably. Feelings of apprehension, reluctance, and ambivalence are normal. Contrary to any self-talk that seeking help is a "sign of weakness", it is just the opposite. Engaging in therapeutic change is a bold and courageous act. I welcome hearing from you and will gladly discuss any matter of concern confidentially.

Are you navigating challenges associated with gender identity, sexuality, or relationships and looking for somebody to talk to who understands? Or maybe you are coming to therapy for help with other challenges and would feel more comfortable with a therapist who is part of the LGBTQ+ community. Either way, I am here to provide a warm, supportive, and collaborative space, where you feel safe to discuss and explore the things that are most important to you. It is often difficult to recognize the behaviors or thought patterns keeping us stuck.

Taking the first step towards finding a therapist can often be the hardest. It is the first step of feeling vulnerable and open to help. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to be themselves and fully engage in the therapeutic experience. I specialize in treating anxiety disorders and depression. Many of the individuals I work with have difficulty managing their feelings, keeping their thoughts organized, and achieving positive change. My goal for my clients is to help them identify what is challenging them and develop a plan to achieve that positive change you are seeking.

For many, counseling offers the possibility of making a lasting and positive change in your life. Physical, emotional and environmental wellness all factor into one's mental health. Many issues can contribute to challenges with mental health including situational stressors such as loss, relationship conflicts, employment struggles and life transitions. In addition to these stressors, some people struggle with issues from childhood or unhealthy patterns that sabotage their relationships. A good therapist should believe in their clients potential for change, growth, and healing. I offer a supportive and non-judgmental environment that works in partnership with my clients.

We are creatures of habit. Most of us spend our days on the proverbial hamster wheel, going round and round, engaging in the same behavior, experiencing the same feelings, making no progress toward our goals. We feel stuck but don't know why. Therapy helps get you unstuck and moving towards the life that you want. It's about identifying the thoughts, values, and beliefs that create behavioral and emotional patterns that get us nowhere. Then it's about looking at options that will create movement. Believe it or not, there are always options. It's a matter of deciding which one you're willing to implement.

It has been my privilege helping people rapidly heal from trauma both past and present, incorporating God's guidance with proven psychological techniques, i.e., EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems and Imago Therapy. I like it when I hear someone say that they can never get over some hurt in their life and then be able, with God's help, to get them past it to a place of peace with what happened. In addition I work with ADHD ( adult & adolescent ), addictions, ACOA, couple counseling, marital problems, divorce recovery , anxiety, depression, unresolved grief issues, interventions, PTSD, DID, panic attacks...

I treat adults with sleep problems, ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, & stressors (especially college transitions, fertility & perinatal issues) - it is common for them to overlap.
Now accepting clients for ADHD women’s group stating 10/10! You’re lying in bed and it starts - endless thoughts of what there is to do, what is going wrong or what could go wrong, memories, exciting new ideas, old conversations, thoughts of how to ‘fix’ your sleep/anxiety/organization/relationships/life. Your busy mind can be exhausting yet that is exactly the problem; you just can’t seem to disengage enough to fully relax, enjoy, or possibly even sleep. And all of that thinking does not seem to improve the way you live day-to-day anyway. This is a frustrating paradox when you are trying to reach your fullest potential.

Welcome to a place where you can learn to celebrate yourself and what you have to offer. It’s time we stopped thinking about how we are “defective” and started focusing on how we are strong. Let’s figure out what it is that you excel at and let’s make a plan to find the best job that meets your needs. It’s time to stop trying to fit yourself into an environment and start building an environment that is right for you. Let’s live life on our own terms.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
