I work with neurofeedback to help balance the brain, which is helpful for explosive disorders, addiction, ADHD, depression and anxiety.
I will bring warmth, openness, empathy, intelligent understanding, and a non-judgmental, down-to-earth, supportive approach to our therapy. Whether you are new to therapy or have some previous experience, I use a personalized approach to help you learn to cope with your specific life circumstances. We will work to uncover and understand your needs and feelings. With my expertise in couples and families, and individuals, I focus on each client's unique circumstances. Ultimately, the best way to determine if I can be helpful to you, is to meet me in person to see how you feel.

Welcome! If you are here, chances are that you are looking for help. That's okay! Everyone needs help sometimes. In my experience, it's better to ask for it and get it than to struggle and continue to beat yourself up over things. Even for people who don't believe they need counseling/therapy, there are many things they could work on to improve themselves. Whether it's relationships, school or career performance, problem solving or just wanting to become a better person, I believe I can help. Don't you deserve a better, happier life?

Outdoor Ecotherapy or telehealth. Lisa grew up on a farm property in Litchfield County, CT. Experiences here led her to an early appreciation for the relationship of the natural environment and healing through restorative modalities. She believes that connecting with nature improves mental health and well being. She studied horticulture and incorporated knowledge and skills in landscape design, project management, growing, and all aspects of greenhouse activities for over twenty years. Lisa then studied psychology and practiced in several settings including psychiatric group homes, hospitals, agencies, rehabs and private practice.

If you or your relationship feels stuck and need help breaking harmful, recursive patterns (usually generational) to feel loving, prosperous, and healthy, reach out. Because once you grasp that your personal beliefs (again, often generational) create your emotions and that those emotions result in your behaviors, you can transform yourself and your relationships. I will help you replace outdated negative beliefs with healthy new ones. You will learn how to communicate and express emotions effectively. You will learn how to navigate life by becoming aware that you are playing the game of life; you just need to understand the rules.

Glimpses of gratitude can bring us far. My goal is to help you reconnect to yourself and help you identify what it is you want in life. I believe in the power of self-love, taking deep breaths, becoming aware of our thoughts, and trusting we are strong enough to feel the feelings we have. I have been in the field since 2006 in various positions with many populations and problem areas. What’s constant, is that I am passionate about my role as a social worker and being present for others. I incorporate Eastern philosophies in my practice and invite emotion connection through the power of stillness; the place we find ourselves.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
