I work with diverse adolescent and adult populations.
I am a licensed clinician in MN and OR. I provide a safe, respectful, nonjudgmental setting to explore and discover solutions to diverse challenges. A critical element of therapy is the development of a trusting relationship between the client and therapist and can impact the healing process. Healing is a unique and individual process, as such, I believe it is important to learn of the uniqueness of each client and their goals for therapy.

Accepting new clients! I believe that darkness is an opportunity to find our true light. Book today to discover your own truth. I see clients who are experiencing attachment wounds, past traumatic experiences, grief, and who want a new way to approach their healing. The journey towards self-discovery if often accompanied by pain and loneliness. We may feel overwhelmed by emotions and get stuck in unhealthy patterns that we struggle to recognize. We need someone who will sit with us in our pain and darkness without judgment. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental, and inclusive space for all individuals to explore their emotions.

I believe everyone can find healing in an atmosphere of non-judgment, validation, and empathy. Acceptance and honesty can perform miracles. My theoretical orientation is rooted in the Humanistic-Existential approach. It means that I believe that every individual has the best expert of themselves and is in power to shape their present, future, and even the past. We all hold the key to our happiness. However, the traumas we hold, injustice, oppression, and cultural stereotypes make us feel overwise. It makes us feel powerless over our own lives. My role as a therapist is to help my clients to remember that they are in charge.

I strive to create a safe, respectful space in which we can work together to understand the current problems and conflicts impacting your life, and identify self-defeating patterns that keep you from reaching your full potential. We will watch to see how and when these patterns occur in the therapeutic process itself and work to trace problems back to their roots in earlier periods of your life. By gaining a deeper understanding of ourselves, we attain greater freedom to choose how we wish to live, to strengthen our relationships and find joy in life.

Seeking the assistance of a professional counselor is an important decision. Reaching out for help can be difficult, but once the decision has been made, most people, in my experience, find the outcome to be extremely rewarding. Stress, relationship difficulties, and career disenchantment are just a few of the normal issues that anyone may encounter over the course of one's life. Seeking an experienced and skilled counselor to help deal with any of these concerns is a demonstration of personal strength and healthy coping.

As our identities grow and shift as we move through life, it can be overwhelming to try and navigate those changes alone– especially when we feel like we're "supposed" to act, feel, or be a certain way. Those pressures may come from narratives that we’ve internalized from others, whether that be from our families, our peers, or society at large. My aim is to create a warm, collaborative, and affirming space where we can explore and bring awareness to the stories that make up your life narrative: celebrating the stories that honor your experiences and gently deconstructing the narratives that no longer serve you.

As a therapist, I specialize in working with highly sensitive individuals, those eager to explore spirituality in depth, teachers, creative minds, and individuals striving to enhance their roles as partners in relationships. My core therapeutic approach is rooted in mindfulness, shaped by my intensive training in a Buddhist Monastery where I honed my meditation skills, and embraced prolonged periods of introspective silence. These experiences have equipped me with the tools to guide others towards a space of joyful self-discovery, facilitating the germination of authentic desires.

Whether you have tried therapy in the past and are seeking support again, or are just beginning your therapy journey – I’m so glad you are here. I believe healing happens in relationship – to ourselves, to our communities, and to others in our lives who we care deeply for. Through Somatic Mindfulness (body centered), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Self-Compassion based theories, I view my role as a guide along the road back to yourself, the ones you love, and the life you want to feel present in.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
