I'm accepting new clients for Mondays and Thursdays 9am to 6pm, Fridays 9am to 1pm. Getting started with therapy or finding a therapist can be overwhelming and I want to congratulate you for taking the first step and learning about me. I’m fluent in Spanish-English reading, writing and of course speaking. My experience in the health care field since 2016 and the last 4 years in mental health within the community mental health system has only grown my ability to connect with a diverse population and understand the challenges of anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, parental challenges, teen challenges and couples issues.

Our therapists have a warm and inviting approach that will help you to feel comfortable to discuss life's struggles. We treat adolescents/teens ages 12+, adults, elders and couples. My goal is to help you overcome the feeling of being stuck so you can start moving forward! Whether this is related to your relationships, feelings of anxiety, or a recent change in your life, I am dedicated to uncovering the root cause of these issues, eradicating the discomfort and transforming it into functional daily living. I specialize in working with males (adolescent or adult) that are struggling with a wide range of issues; in particular, identity issues/crises, life transitions, difficulty with relationships, and/or anxiety/depression. I utilize a more direct approach to therapy, similar to coaching, yet explore with clients the underlying therapeutic themes that are fueling their struggles. In addition to my area of specialization, I also enjoy working with couples and family systems (adult & adolescent) that desire a spiritual focus in their relational growth but find themselves stuck in communication, connection and/or commitment.

I am deeply compassionate towards those in pain and find immense fulfillment in witnessing individuals embrace lives filled with joy and purpose. Sharing joy is a profound expression of our humanity. While the road to healing may be challenging, it also holds countless transformative moments of self-discovery, spiritual awakening, and personal and relational growth. As a counselor, my mission is to walk alongside my clients on their path towards reclaiming joy and fulfillment, supporting them every step of the way.

My ideal client is someone who is willing to become a participant in their own recovery, who deals with; addiction, anxiety, depression, codependency and communication issues, and is willing to create the best version of themselves. I bring a combination of life and professional experience to my counseling practice. I work with adults on a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, anger management, alcohol & substance abuse, addictive behaviors and codependency. Both my Master degrees are from Northern Arizona University. I'm licensed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as a Licensed Professional Counselor and as a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor, I also hold the designation of National Certified Counselor, certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors.

Though I specialize in trauma therapies and often treat abuse, rape, and first responders, military, PTSD, and other traumas, I have years treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, grief, relationship issues, bi-polar, PTSD, stress management and other issues. I do specialized therapy to treat childhood trauma, sexual assaults, First Responders, military, and others with trauma. I want someone who is willing to work to rid themselves of those demons that haunt their life and prevent them from moving forward. My favorite quote is "I never said it would be easy, only that it would be worth it."

I have worked with All AGES and their families who have experienced a range of COMPLEX traumas, grief and loss, and coped with developmental disabilities. I have an Attachment and Emotion Focused Approach along with other skills such as Cognitive Behavior Therapist and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I have also helped families and caretakers navigate the emotional complexities of foster care and adoption. Knowledgeable on resources and helping families decide approaches.

My certifications include the Gottman Method for Couples, the Century Program for Anger Management, and the Abuse No More program for Domestic Violence. The Gottman Method focuses on emotion, skill building for managing conflict, developing new skills for enhancing friendship, and helping couples create a system of shared meaning together. This method is tailored to the couple and the strengths and challenges facing each couple. For couples therapy, I utilize an advanced couples therapy approach called EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy) which significantly helps the couple to increase and/or establish a securely attached relationship bond.

I am trained in EMDR, IFS, CBT, NVC and other helpful techniques and therapies to support you in your journey!

Andee Bufkin is a master's level Professional Counselor licensed with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health. Andee has over a decade of experience in the counseling field working with individual adults, adolescents, and families. Andee's goal is to provide you with goal-oriented, confidential therapy in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. Her specialties include dealing with anxiety related issues, depression, mood disorders, ADHD symptoms, communication skills, as well as child/adolescent behavioral disorders. Andee is also trained in EMDR techniques to assist clients who are struggling with Post traumatic stress disorder.
