I use EMDR, Brainspotting, Hakomi Experiential Therapy, Somatics, Mindfulness/Awareness Therapy and PACT Couples Therapy.
Welcome! As we work together I will honor your inherent healthiness. If you are experiencing PTSD, trauma, grief, loss, divorce, depression, anxiety, anger, denial, co-dependency, addictions, or need self-care and empowerment, you have choices. I can help you to be brave enough to weather personal storms, tender enough to be vulnerable, resilient enough to succeed, and confident enough to trust your own wisdom. Together we'll take a non-judgmental and honest look at "how and why" you do what you do, in order to inspire positive change. I invite you to explore the possibilities. Individuals and couples. (No insurance for couples)

I've recently wrapped up EMDR training, and I'm absolutely pumped to bring its transformative power to those grappling with past traumas and challenging emotions.
Picture this: I'm like your trusty sidekick on a quest towards a brighter, more fulfilling life, totally dedicated to cheering you on as you unravel your own unique path to personal growth. What makes me stand out? Well, I've got quite the story myself as an immigrant who took on the USA all by myself at 19. That journey? It taught me a thing or two about resilience, understanding different cultures, and most importantly, the incredible strength we all carry within. Those life-altering moments? They've shaped my approach to therapy, and now my goal is to help you tap into that inner strength, unleashing your true potential.

In early June she will add EMDR to her treatment offerings.
Schedule a free consult instantly through website link! In her therapy practice, Lisa works to build a dynamic, trusting, non-judgmental connection with her clients. She strives to understand their perspective, and to help identify and utilize their personal strengths to achieve the change they seek. Lisa believes we all contain the wisdom and resilience to shift towards our better selves and improve our lives. However we tend to lose access to these resources when we become entangled in difficulties and are overtaken by uncertainties and emotions. Lisa strives to assist her clients as they regain clarity and self-acceptance.

My approaches to therapy include Mindfulness-based therapy, IFS parts-work, EMDR, and body-centered awareness.
Embarking on the path of healing and self-exploration is an act of daring. Perhaps the search comes from a place of despair or struggle, yet it is through this gateway of pain that we may find greater meaning and self-compassion. In the process, we may make a friend we have always longed for, ourselves. I would be honored to support your journey of self-discovery and change. I work with individuals, both adults and adolescents. I work with LGBTQIA+ and am adept at navigating issues of gender/sexuality. I am also certified to practice Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), which can relieve distress and accelerate healing.

I use evidence based practices such as EMDR, mindfulness, self-compassion, and somatic awareness to guide the therapeutic process.
You may vacillate between highly anxious and just going through the motions: numb, disconnected, checked out. You feel overwhelmed with your daily life- tense, tight, constricted. Some days, even though you are trying your best, you blow up at the drop of a hat. Things that used to be easy make you feel anxious and fearful. You may feel like you are at the bottom of a well. Whether you know how you ended up here, or if you feel confused and uncertain, therapy can open doors to new ways of being that help you to feel like yourself again.

I utilize EMDR, IFS/parts work, and body-based practices to support exploring the inaccurate subconscious beliefs that are driving your behavior without your knowledge.
I believe in the power of your strengths, values, dormant skills, and passions - simply the "particular way" that only you can show up in the world. It is different from everyone else, and that's a great thing. But when you experience events that overwhelm your system (trauma), those particular ways move into the background, and you lose your sense of ground. The unwinding of traumatic experiences is how we are "Tending The Ground" of you, and re-claiming the parts of you that got lost along the way. This is essential work along the path toward having a fulfilling life and allowing your particular ways to flourish.

Accepting new clients for weekly therapy & EMDR intensives.
Accepting NEW Clients (May 2024): Are you a highly sensitive person who is feeling overwhelmed & uncomfortable in your own skin? You’ve always felt a bit different from others. In order to fit in, you’ve learned to mask your true self — your deepest emotions & thoughts, your natural ways of speaking & moving. You’re so used to the mask, you’re not sure who the real you is. After being told many times that you’re “too sensitive,” you don't know how to trust yourself. There are painful experiences that you know you need to process. You’re ready to heal — truly heal — and live a more empowered life. I would like to support you.

I take a holistic approach and pull from a wide range of skills and modalities–such as Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, DBT, and EMDR–to meet each client where they are in the moment.
YOU are the expert of your own experience, and it's an honor for me to work alongside you to create the life you desire. Trauma, PTSD, ADHD and neurodivergency, and LGBTQIA+ issues are a few of my specialty areas. I aim to provide a safe space where you feel comfortable and confident exploring your inner-self, nurturing your relationships, expanding your deepest curiosities, and healing any emotional wounds along the way. It's a huge step to reach out for support. The journey may be difficult–therapy is not easy–but my goal is for each client to have a positive therapeutic experience while we're working together.

As a therapist trained and experienced in trauma treatment (EMDR) and cognitive-behavioral, DBT, CBT, solutions focused, and mindfulness interventions, I assist in peeling back the layers of trauma, defenses, and “should” voices to restore your voice and your body/mind's natural healing ability.
Do you have unresolved wounds from childhood, relationships, from the general trauma that life inflicts? I believe everyone has a core self that contains the innate wisdom to heal, grow, and to be liberated through self compassion. I also believe this part of ourselves gets blocked -- physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually -- and silenced through various wounds like trauma, belief systems, and the negative messages we receive from others and society. If you seek healing and a newfound sense of inner freedom and self-acceptance, I can help you.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
