Welcome! Whether you are struggling with a temporary setback, or an ongoing problem, I can assist you. It is my experience that, as human beings, we all face life challenges, be they relational, personal, emotional, or physical, and our mental health affects how we respond to those challenges. I offer counseling to all ages (children, teens, adults) and provide services to individuals, couples, and families. Therapy can be short-term/ solution-focused, or longer- term, depending on your needs and desires.

Welcome and thank you for exploring my profile! The process of therapy begins with hearing your story and the things you are struggling with. I hope to provide a non-judgmental, safe place where counseling care is contextualized to meet your needs. I believe that what we do flows from who we are. And when we experience various traumas/stressors in our life, we can internalize them and believe unhealthy narratives about ourself and the world. While learning coping skills/practical tools are important, I have learned that working through the core/root issues are where long-lasting healing takes place.

God never intended for us to face the problems in our lives apart from Him. He desires to be involved in the process of bringing about healthy and holy change in our lives. Jesus said that "Man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." I strive to base my counseling approach firmly on Scripture. The Bible is God's perfect, powerful, life transforming and saving word. God has spoken, definitively, regarding all areas of our lives. He indeed has the answer for whatever your problem(s) may be.

I am committed to helping my clients achieve their goals. I believe that counseling can promote a lifestyle that results in physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. I focus on the client as a whole individual, rather than a disorder, and encourage healthy behaviors across various aspects of life. I conceptualize individuals and form treatment plans tailored to each client's unique characteristics, strengths, values, and needs. I work diligently to create a safe, empathic, and supportive environment for my clients.

Counseling has been Jillissa's passion for years. She specializes in, but is not limited to, issues including: marriage and family, relationship dynamics, boundary issues, adolescent and children's issues, and woman's issues such as eating disorders, depression, anger, anxiety, divorce care, singleness, grief, bitterness, identity and significance issues and mood disorders. She also works with clients struggling with anxiety disorders including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Adjustment Disorders. Jillissa's philosophy of counseling is the integration of Christianity and psychology, and her counseling methods include: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Psychoeducation, and Child Play Therapy.

Sometimes a major event in one's life makes it difficult to stay positive and feel emotionally balanced and healthy. During those times, we just need someone to confide. You deserve to live a life free from physical challenges, this is where I come in. My goal as your therapist is to walk graciously along your side as you find balance with empathy and personal connection. To my clinical training, I add my experiences as a School Counselor, in the elementary through high school level and a parent of teenagers to provide a caring and adaptable applications of theories and methods supported by research. I am a seasoned professional who has the privilege to be in private practice for over 20 years, specializing in family therapy and the creative arts to resolve conflicts and dilemmas. As a credentialed and registered art therapist, I have a passion for my field helping people to open-up to their creativity. I receive tremendous joy working with children, women, couples and families as trained in my doctorate of marriage and family therapy. Key issues include: ADHD, Autism Spectrum, couples therapy, children of divorce, adoption issues, parenting issues, transgender and identity, spirituality, mood disorder, anxiety and depression.

Online sessions and in-office sessions are available. We provide a nonjudgemental environment for you to move forward in if you have decided to work on yourself or your relationship. We work with clients 5+ that are dealing with abuse, stress, anxiety, and depression. Life can be overwhelming for individuals and families that are trying to do life on life's terms.
