Do you struggle to feel safe and secure in relationships? Do shame, guilt, and anxiety cause you to avoid talking about your own needs? Trauma from our past can affect how we relate to others. My approach is to build a warm, peaceful, shame free space for people to share their story and discover in creative ways to heal the hurt that they carry. I support people as they open doors of their hearts with compassion and care. Whether you are coming to therapy as an individual or a couple, I work to build up your inner resources and hope for your future.

During our life journeys, we all experience stressful, painful, and unpredictable moments–so often putting us through trauma and changing the course of our lives. You may experience obstacles that interfere with your sense of peace and well-being. I hope you know you don’t have to go through any of life’s challenging moments alone, and I’d be honored to work through them with you.

Whether it’s a small issue that you just want to process, or you feel like you are hanging by a thread, my goal is to help you regain control. I want to walk with you through whatever is troubling you and help you find the power to work it out.

Working together to harness your capacity for self-healing, we will look to the roots of emotional pain to soothe the effects of trauma.
You’re exhausted, and it’s time to find rest and peace. You may be feeling anxious, angry, overwhelmed, or alone. You desire connection in close relationships, but intense feelings often create division. You feel stressed or triggered at times, and you’re not sure why. Quiet peacefulness is what you long for—calm, steady relationships that heal instead of hurt.

Life is full of hurt, disappointment, and brokenness. Even in the midst of difficulty, we often long for a sense of joy, hope, belonging, healing, and peace. Things like anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, and relational conflict can leave deep wounds and a sense of hopelessness. While there is often never a way to "fix" everything that's broken in our lives, I am a firm believer that healing and restoration is possible and counseling is a wonderful tool to move towards healing and a sense of wholeness.

I want you to know that you are not alone! I specialize primarily in trauma and anxiety disorders, but I also have experience in working with other mental health issues that affect your life. Many of my clients find relief in realizing that their struggle does not own them and that there are many options available to have hope again. Together we can find the root cause so we can create a more effective toolbox to manage your symptoms. People heal when they create trusting relationships with their therapist so they feel validated and understood. Some of the treatment modalities I utilize include CBT, EMDR, solution focused, etc.

Accepting new clients. You may function well but feel aware of something missing, a confusing or unfulfilling part of your experience. What you know to be true may not align with what you feel or you may have limited control over your behavior in some areas. Even those who can articulate why they started therapy often find that there’s more they were searching for. I think it takes time to work through the layers and find language that fits. I see therapy more as healing and adapting than eliminating bad behaviors. Sometimes your ways of making it through stop working as well. I think our work together is finding a new way

Most people are striving to live a congruent life where their perception of self matches their lived experience. Life can throw us off this path whether it's through an unexpected event, mood disorder or life transition. I have experience working with adults with anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship issues, identity development, life transitions, and stress management. I particularly enjoy providing support to members of marginalized communities who are coping with the additional stressors of society.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
