I also work with highly sensitive persons (HSP's), survivors of emotional/narcissistic trauma and abuse, those struggling with self-acceptance or low self-esteem, and individuals who are seeking meaning and purpose in their lives.
Hi there! I'm a therapist with a certified specialty in perinatal mental health. I utilize holistic and innovative methods to treat life's common (and some not so common) speed-bumps - the ones that usually leave us feeling like we're trapped in frustrating cycles or tapped out energetically. My life's work and passion is all about holding space for clients who are ready to own their stories and transform their lives. I aim to work with individuals who are ready to become empowered to make a return to their most authentic self! If you are looking for a counselor who is creative, non-judgmental & laid back, we may be a great fit.

Drawing from a person-centered approach, I strive to create a therapeutic environment characterized by empathy, acceptance, and authentic connection. I understand that working with adolescents requires patience, compassion, and a willingness to meet individuals where they are on their journey. My focus extends beyond the individual to encompass the entire family unit. I believe that healing is a collaborative process that involves addressing systemic issues and fostering healthy relational dynamics. By working with the whole system, I aim to create lasting change and promote resilience within the family.

I have been fortunate to work with and connect with adolescents and adults in my practice. My therapeutic approach involves working with client's to identify the issues they are facing, articulate their personal goals and uncover the specific needs of each individual. This approach allows me to build rapport with the client which is conducive to positive outcomes. The client is allowed the time and space to identify triggers and blocks to making meaningful change. A wide array of coping skills and tools will be utilized to manage life stressors and build personal resilience.

Life is hard. Everyone walks through tough times, and no one should have to do it alone. It is my goal to walk with my clients through trials and see them emerge a stronger, healthier version of themselves. It takes courage to ask for help, therefore everyone who walks through my door is treated with respect and met with empathy and compassion.

This said, my focus is not on diagnosis, it is on the person (or people) in my office, who are far more than a diagnosis and far more complex than any kind of therapy protocol! I have training in ACT, RO-DBT, DBT, EMDR, CBT, and interventions for psychosis.
Your story matters. And you are more than a story. People usually seek therapy when trying to make sense of a piece of their story or trying to create a new chapter. My approach to therapy seeks to hear your story as we both learn more about who you are and what matters to you. I love to help people improve their relationships with themselves and other. Neurodiversity-Affirming therapy for those with Autism, including women and teens, is my primary specialty. I also have specialization in recovery from mental health challenges such as Depression, self-harm, Borderline Personality, Bipolar Disorder and voice hearing/psychosis.

It can be daunting to seek outside help for something that might be deeply personal. But sometimes, life can overwhelm us, and we might decide that something is not working for us or that it’s time to pursue a change. In these moments, I want to walk with you through your struggles and help you find your way to healing and contentment. In the therapy process, I value the insight you bring about your life and experience, and the work we do together will be, first and foremost, a collaborative effort.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
